Win-It Wednesday: iVillage Summer of Love Gift Basket ($100 ARV!)

May 26, 2010 by Deal Seeking Mom

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

iVillage Gift Basket

As part of the relaunch of their Pregnancy & Parenting site, iVillage recently asked its readers to complete a Married Sex survey. Among the key findings were these interesting results:

  • 63% of married women said they would prefer to catch up on an extra hour of sleep, watch a movie or read a book than have sex with their spouse
  • 31% of women reported that they had a better sex life before marriage
  • 14% of women have participated in sexting, while 17% have sent flirty email messages
  • 44% of women said the quality of their sex life has not changed since having kids
  • 23% of women have sex 1 to 3 times a month

iVillage wants to encourage couples with children to enjoy a “Summer of Love”, and today they’re giving away a Summer of Love gift basket (valued at $100!) to one lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader! The gift basket includes:

  • beach blanket
  • 2-in-1 massage oil from K-Y
  • cooler with plastic champagne flutes, napkins, bottle of champagne
  • Listerine strips

  • fun-shaped ice cube trays and popsicle molds
  • tanning oil
  • scented candles

  • red nail polish

I grab my husbands cell phone and set reminder notices to remind him of all the reasons I love him (one reason per reminder). I pick random days and times for the notices and will set them up to 6 months in advance. This way he gets the message and will text me something sweet in return. It’s a nice little surprise for both of us since I usually forget which days the reminders are set for.

Couples with children need to have date nights – like they did before children… arange a sitter – or a stay over with a family memeber or a friend (if you are close with them)… This has been something that has been very difficult for my hubby n i to do because i work 2 jobs, and he works 1.. and by the time night comes around – or a day off comes (i dont remember my last day off… hmmm… i think it was easter)…we are just to tired to do anything… :(

Use naptime and when they go to sleep at night to bond with each other. Try to have date night at least once a month and when you do go out don’t talk about the kids, work or anything else that doesn’t involve you and your husband

time….just time…make time and find time for each other. we do this with date nights and we try to go to bed together. i also look forward to when the kids get to bed and we take a 30 minutes or so to be in the same room at least (we might be working but we are both in the office) and can talk about things together.

My first piece of advice to help spice things is to take advantage of nap time or right after the kids are in bed for the night. Those few hours are great for cuddling, watching a movie, having a glass of wine and chatting, giving each other massages and other things! It’s hard to be in the mood when you have a long day with the kids but it is precious time together. My husband and I try to have a date night once a month where our son spends the night with a family member. It’s nice not having to worry about the baby and you can reconnect with your spouse. Focus on why you were attracted to each other initially, try to look nice for one another and things should blossom from there!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
