Our friends are always happy to bring a dish to share, which cuts down on our costs. We try to do simple, but yummy foods.

My best tip:
Especially for winter parties, serve stews and chilis. EVERYONE loves stews and chilis and a little goes a long way.
Corrina
My friends and I do potluck parties all the time. Everyone brings something yummy to eat and something to drink. It’s super cheap this way and we have a blast. People never seem to mind, they just love to be invited to a party.

Potlucks are the best!

Make foods with few ingredients that go a long way!

I like to provide a main dish like BBQ ( made from .87/lb pork butt roast cooked in the crockpot) and let everyone else bring something. My friends and family don’t mind contributing at all and it’s nice to see how everything comes together and compliments each other!

My tip is to keep it simple. I always end up doing WAY more than is needed. People have fun together – they don’t need 17 different types of food and cookies. My new rule is to do just 3 things – just do a lot of each thing. Thanks for the chance!

I try to host a party after lunch and before dinner so that way I only serve appetizers.
Shelly
I receive your emails! :)

To me…having a party is already saving money! It’s way cheaper than going out somehwere to watch the game and drink…so I invite friends over and we have a potluck. I love hosting, and most of my friends are more than happy to bring a side dish if it means they get to get out of the house and enjoy the big game on a budget!
Susanne
Set a theme and provide the basics.
Drinks, appetizer, a main dish and dessert.
Then have guests bring other appetizers, and desserts.
You will have a great selection and enjoy the party too, because your workload has been cut in half or more.

Stock up on party supplies when they are cheap. When Tostitos products were on sale at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago I got a ton and will use the chips and dips at our upcoming parties!
Kim
I make the main dish and have my friends bring the sides.

Besides Potlucks, I try to creating a menu around what is on special or with coupon deals.

Best frugal party tips would be to entertain at home, preferably in the garden.

My friends and I love potlucks!
And keep it simple – the simpler, the less expensive (and more enjoyable for the hostess)
