Have mostly finger food to choose from. Makes an easy cleanup and great to munch on during the game. I use individual bowl for people to fill up with, then they can take it in the livingroom and enjoy during the game.

I go to someone else’s house!!!!
and check to see if there is something I already have in my house, instead of buying something ‘special’

To save money on a party I do a few things, I go thru my current inventory- I shop all along for things I save a bunch on and will need in the future. Then I check the sales, forum, and email list to see what I can get for the best price. Then Last I ask my gues to bring an app or desert to share!

In this area, it’s common practice to invite folks to a “pot-luck” or BYO party. Everyone brings a dish to share, and it’s understood that if folks want alcohol to drink they bring that along, too. the hosts provide basics in food and drink, but the guests chip in and the costs are manageable. Also, borrow, don’t buy, seldom-used items like serving pieces, extra chairs, and the like. Finally, party outdoors whenever possible. The cleaning and breakage will be kept to a minimum!

To throw a party on a budget I try to remember that when you have a variety of things, a little bit goes a long way, so you just don’t need to go overboard.

I find just asking people to bring a dish is an easy and frugal way to have a great get together. Also all the traditional superbowl party stuff is on sale near the big game so you really watch those sales and pair with coupons.

O when the Saints come marching in…. :) actually we are Steeler fans in this house…but LOVE football and will be having a quiet extended family celebration…so this would be a great way to enhance our low key super bowl party! Thanks

My frugal party tip is that I make items that I can get on sale or are cheap to make. Like pigs in a blanket, it seems that hot dogs, biscuits or croissants, and cheese is always on sale or I have coupons. I also tend to ask my friends to bring a side item like drinks or chips. It helps.

My frugal party tip is that I like to host TACO PARTIES. All the taco ingredients are so much cheaper and easier than other options and who doesn’t love tacos?

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
