Like others have said, potluck could help you save some money. You could also pick food items that you could prepare ahead of time, therefore buying ingredients when they’re on sale or you have a coupon. If nothing else, you can invite a smaller group of people. :)

Our group of friends always share costs by doing the potluck style get togethers. Then we use coupons for whatever we bring.

Planning is the best way! When the paper products go on sale
( for football/holidays/birthdays) I always buy them and put them away! having a potluck is good.I like doing a bring your favorite beer to share. then people get to try some new beer to and it’s less for you to buy!!
Thanks for the GREAT giveaway!

Schedule your party for a time when people will not expect a full meal to be served. An appetizer or dessert only party is fun and easy to do as a potluck.

The best tip I know for throwing a party on the cheap: plan ahead. That way, you have the time to maximize your coupons and look for the best deals. Hot dogs freeze, chips will do fine in the cupboard, and condiments keep forever. :-)
