I ask guests to bring something to share. That way it’s not as expensive to host the party.

To hold to a budget when throwing a Superbowl party, I fix two big pots of chili — one white and one red. I use a little less meat in the chili’s than normal, and I stock up on all the ingredients in the weeks leading up to the big game. It’s a lot cheaper than serving sandwiches or something catered.

Ask your guests to bring their favorite snack to share. Buy early, use coupons, and freeze if necessary.

My best frugal party tip is to use coupons and stock up when things are on sale, like paper plates, cups, etc.

Everyone brings something to share like potluck style. Then you get to try new things and it keeps the cost down.

I plan a menu a couple months in advance and buy things when they go on sale.
Aly
I shop weekly sales and buy in bulk.

I subscribe via email and just today I figured out how to do the RSS!

To keep the costs down, I have a limited menu and stock up in the weeks before. For example, we have more chips, dip and salsa than we could possibly use from CVS’s recent deals. Plus, everyone usually brings something to add to the selection.
Angie
I ask guest to bring something, which helps alot.

I hate to ask guests to also bring something when we invited them, so I think they key is to find low-cost snacks to make. I also try not to have the party at lunch or dinner time so that way I don’t have to make a big meal.
Marla
I would ask guests to bring their own drinks ( usually for a football party, brob – bring your own beer ). That would save a lot but I would also keep my eye open for sales and watch for coupons.
