I plan my menu for at least one month ahead of the party, if possible. Then I collect coupons for the items I would like to serve. I also stockpile things so I often have lots to choose from already.
I use the coupons and sales to purchase whatever else I need for the party. My friends offer to bring desserts and wine. This way the party doesn’t cost too much and we all have plenty to enjoy.

I buy most of my paper products at Aldi and stock-pile 2 liters of pop when they’re on sale. jenmizener at gmail dot com

One of my frugal party tips is to make a big pot of Southern Iced Tea as opposed to serving soft drinks. Depending on how many guests you have coming, you might need to buy a lot of soft drinks, which can add up to a chunk of your food bill. Most everyone likes sweetened tea and wouldn’t mind not having the option of a soft drink. Maybe let everyone know ahead of time to “bring their own drink” if they would like something different.

I use items from my stockpile, but I also ask everyone to bring one item – You get a great assortment of fun food and it is easy on the pocketbook!

Best frugal party tip: have everyone bring something, it lightens the financial load, and people will bring stuff anyway, so it doesn’t hurt to say what you need for the party.

I believe the best way to be frugal is to simply ask everyone to bring their favorite game time dish… or whatever theme you are having. Then they are sure to have at least one dish that they will eat and you’re not stuck making everything by yourself.

Everyone should join the Forums! More great information!

My best tip? Ask all your friends to bring something to the party! It doesn’t have to be something big, and most people won’t mind chipping in!

A great way to save money for the party is to have everyone bring something! Also, plan ahead. Many stores will have great deals ahead of time and with all the coupons from dealseekingmom you will be sure to save a ton!

Make a lot of the food yourself instead of buying pre-made things. This is also just fun for me too.
