As many have already said, potlucks really are the best way to have a frugal, low-stress party. The added bonus is that people who are picky or who have restricted diets are guaranteed to have something available that they will enjoy.

My favorite thing to do is have everyone bring something. It seems to me that people love feeling involved! Some people have that “special recipe” they like to show off…and for those who “don’t cook,” they can pitch in by bringing drinks or paper goods.

I ask everyone to contribute one of their favorite dishes. It saves of food expenses and people really like trading recipes of the yummy treats everyone brings.

My favorite frugal party tip is to say yes when people ask it they can bring something instead of telling them don’t worry about it.

I *hide the paper towels and use napkins (and rags and such for spills!!) I also let the kids make the decorations rather than buy any and its fun for all.

I have everyone bring a dish. It makes for more time for you to spend with your company. Also if you are having alcohol if they bring what they want to drink you can have a great party withour breaking your budget. Great to do during the winter months so you can still socialize without spending so much at a restaurant.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
