I like to do potlucks. Also, using the slow cooker for shredded pork/beef makes for great and affordable sandwiches.

Make it a potluck party, or have it at a time that isn’t over a meal. That way you can provide cheap and easy snacks. Also, having people bring their own drinks while only providing a few can save a lot of money.

I love to throw a outside football party every year with just a big pot of chili. It is cheap to make, feeds a lot and only realy requires crackers or bread to go with it, and keeps us warm.

I like to do crock pot dips…they are simple, affordable and you can use chips or crackers…whatever you have a coupon for. Also I love to the potluck option…everyone bring their favorite dish to share…no on puts out too much money and everyone enjoys it.

Chips, dips and salsa’s are a great way to go easy on the budget, also buying frozen pizza’s are a great and frugal way to entertain. Top it off with my favorite lil’ smokies and you’ve got a winner!

It works out to be much cheaper if every guest bring a platter/dish and one of their choice of drinks. Makes for a huge selection to everyone with each guest only spending a little and chipping in! And as the host I buy party supplies in bulk at the local discount store.

If you know ahead of time you can shop sales. I like to stock up when on sale (with coupons even better) so that I don’t have to spend a whole lot at the time.

Having everyone bring something & then just letting people hang out & the kids play works the best for us.

Don’t go overboard! The fun is in everyone getting together. Keep it simple with filling but inexpensive food – chili is a great budget stretcher!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
