Ready 2 Rumble Revolution Review

April 19, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski Leave a Comment

r2r_logoMy family had high hopes for Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution. We’ve all enjoyed playing the boxing game that comes on the Wii Sports disc that comes with the console, and after hearing the hype about how awesome Ready 2 Rumble Revolution was going to be before its release, we were excited to play a game that expanded upon the Wii Sports version.

Sadly this game did not even begin to deliver on our expectations. After watching our kids grow increasingly frustrated while playing it, we decided to give it a try for ourselves. My husband was ready to toss his Wii-mote through the TV screen about 5 minutes into the game. The characters do not respond to the controller movements in a synchronized way at all. In fact, at one point we just set the controller down, yet the character on the screen continued to dance around and perform various movements.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution as a worthwhile purchase. However, I do wholeheartedly endorse the Wii. It’s a fabulous way to bring the whole family together for a fun activity.

Corneille: The Birth of Cornelius Review

April 6, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski Leave a Comment

Corneille The Birth of CorneliusIf you like a smooth R&B sound, the you’ll love Corneille’s new CD, The Birth of Cornelius.

The upbeat music is a pleasure to listen to from start to finish, and even my two year old responded to it in a way that I’ve never seen before. She danced all around the room during “Liberation” and then asked me to play it again.

But don’t just take my word for it – learn more about this Univeral Motown Records artist and listen for yourself at https://corneillemusic.com/.

Help Your Kiddos Grow Up Strong with Big G Cereals

February 24, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 4 Comments

General Mills Grow Up Strong
I was recently asked by Mom Bloggers Club to participate in their General Mills Blog Tour centered around their new Grow Up Strong program, and of course I enthusiastically agreed. We go through a LOT of cereal around here between the kids eating it for breakfast and me eating as a late night snack, LOL!

More importantly though, I was really interested to learn about the changes that they’ve made to their kid cereals.

Did you know:

  • Big G kid cereals guarantee at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving in every box.
  • They have just 12 grams or less of sugar in each serving.
  • Combine them with a half-cup of skim milk, and they’ve got 25% of their recommended daily value of both calcium and vitamin D in one meal.

Seriously, how much easier can a nutritious breakfast get?

My kids were thrilled when the General Mills package containing a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch arrived on our doorstep. We declared it “breakfast for lunch” day, and they all dug in. One box doesn’t go very far in this house, but I managed to snag a bowl for myself as well. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the new whole grain variety tastes just like I remember the old version, and my kids scarfed it down with no complaints.

Are you ready to give General Mills Big G kids cereals a try?

Of course you know I want to save you some money in the process. Be sure to print out this $1/2 General Mills cereals coupon before heading to the store!

Have you tried the new Big G kid cereals? What do you think of them? Can you tell a difference?

Sanity Savers: Epson Artisan 800 All-In-One Printer

December 4, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 9 Comments

epson-artisan-800Check out my current obsession and sanity-saving helpmate, the Epson Artisan 800 All-In-One printer!

Isn’t it just gorgeous?!? I mean as far as printers go, I’d say it’s a 10.

Seriously, this is one of the coolest gadgets I have ever owned. I don’t even know where to start counting the ways I love it.

  • It has built-in WiFi! My old clunky Dell had a wireless adapter, but this sleek beauty has WiFi right out of the box.  It was a breeze to network it with all of our computers, even the ones running Vista which never could run the Dell software.

  • The paper tray is completely enclosed! From one mom to another, I’m sure you know why this is such a big deal to me.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to print a great coupon and the paper tray is empty because one of my kids used all the paper for their latest coloring session – or even worse, I lose the coupon altogether because they’ve caused a paper jam.  They have no idea how to get access to the paper in this baby!

  • The photo capabilities are astounding! Forget about all those photo deals online.  You can print borderless photos just like the pros right in the comfort of your own home, and frankly, I think the quality rivals theirs any day.  Plus the Artisan 800’s Smart Ink System boasts fade resistance up to four times longer than photo lab prints.

  • It prints directly on CDs! Of course you have to buy special CDs, but think of the potential for gifts this offers.  Create a special video for grandparents and print a photo and title directly on the CD.  The possibilities with this are endless.

I haven’t even scratched the surface of what this printer offers.  It comes packaged with tons of cool software that I haven’t even had time to play with, but I intend to very soon. Oh, and I didn’t even mention the fabulous touch screen that makes navigating the features simple and easy!

If you’re looking for a printer just to print a coupon here and there, this probably is not the printer for you, but if you’re looking for excellent photo printing capabilities with scanning, faxing, and much more, you can’t go wrong with the Artisan 800.  Retail price on the Epson Artisan 800 is currently $249.99 after rebate, but I’ve seen it as low as $199.99 recently which is an excellent price for a printer of this caliber, especially one with built-in WiFi!

Special thanks goes to One2One Network for giving me the opportunity to test drive this superb piece of technology!

Wishing You a Bumkins Merry Grinchmas

November 26, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski Leave a Comment

grinchmas
Color me clueless, but I always thought the Bumkins company only made cloth diapering supplies. So I was pretty surprised when Mom Bloggers Club asked me to join their Bumkins blog tour to review the Dr. Seuss Nursery line.

bumkins-front

Since I am a huge Dr. Seuss fan, as are my kids, and I associate the Bumkins name with high quality cloth diapers, I jumped at the chance to let my babe give their Dr. Seuss Coverall Seuss Suit a test drive, and I was not a bit disappointed. Who could resist my adorable little man in this red and white striped outfit complete with Thing One and Thing Two on it?

And he’s just as cute going as he is coming with the two little red and white striped pockets on his bum.

grinchmas_productI also received the Grinch Waterproof Superbib which should come in quite handy with my super messy eater and a Grinch ornament that I’m sure my older four will all be arguing over come tree-trimming time!

Paired with a cute Dr. Seuss board book (Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? is a fav here because of the sound effects), this Dr. Seuss apparel would make a fabulous Christmas gift!

Special offer for readers:

Bumkins Grinchmas Gift and Contest! With any Bumkins Dr. Seuss Purchase receive Free Grinch Superbib and automatically be entered to win a four pack of Dr.Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas Ornaments! Just enter grinch08 at checkout to receive your complimentary bib.

Thanks to Mom Bloggers Club for organizing this opportunity!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
