Win-It Wednesday: The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook (7 Winners!)

January 6, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting several 24-hour giveaways throughout the day to give you plenty of chances to win!

Today is also the last day to enter to win $250 from Lottay.com!

Many of you have probably already heard of $5 Dinners, the blog written by my good bloggy friend, Erin Chase, that shares healthy, delicious, and affordable meals. And by “affordable,” I mean ultra-frugal — every recipe can feed a family for $5 or less!

If you’re already a fan of Erin’s or are now intrigued and interested to find out how you can prepare meals in your own home for $5 and under, you’ll be thrilled to find out that she recently published her own cookbook, The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook.

This cookbook is jam-packed with not only recipes that can be prepared for $5 or less but also step-by-step instructions and tips on how you can pare down your grocery bill and feed your family for less. This is a must-read for those of you trying to stretch your budgets right now or anyone just trying to save in some areas so you can spend in others!

And Erin’s hooked me up with a special treat for my readers:

7 lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a copy of The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook! To enter, share your favorite inexpensive meal (links to recipes welcome!).

+++++++++++++++

Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

RAMEN! Ok, its cheap…not necessarily healthy. Sometimes we add veggies and chicken.

My favorite inexpensive meal is tacos. And I really really want this cook book.

My ‘go to’ in expensive dinners are Breakfast for Dinner. Usually I make waffles and scramble eggs. I have my grandmother’s waffle recipe that I usually use but in a pinch I’ll use homemade biscuit mix. Either way it’s a frugal and inexpensive meal that my toddlers always eat.

We like spaghetti with butter and ketchup when I don’t have sauce but looking for an inexpensive pasta meal.

Our inexpensive meal is whole wheat pasta with Ragu sauce and meatballs. It’s around five dollars. If we have any buns or rolls leftover, I turn them into garlic bread, too. It’s a favorite.

I try to find things I can stretch into 2 different meals. For example, make BBQ chicken in the crock pot and have BBQ chicken sandwhiches one night and BBQ chicken pizza for lunch or as another dinner.

Favorite frugal meals would have to be quesidillas or soup-that way I can utilize left over meat and veggies easily.

I love rice with a fried egg on top. My husband likes it too but he adds ketchup to it.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
