Win-It Wednesday: The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook (7 Winners!)

January 6, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting several 24-hour giveaways throughout the day to give you plenty of chances to win!

Today is also the last day to enter to win $250 from Lottay.com!

Many of you have probably already heard of $5 Dinners, the blog written by my good bloggy friend, Erin Chase, that shares healthy, delicious, and affordable meals. And by “affordable,” I mean ultra-frugal — every recipe can feed a family for $5 or less!

If you’re already a fan of Erin’s or are now intrigued and interested to find out how you can prepare meals in your own home for $5 and under, you’ll be thrilled to find out that she recently published her own cookbook, The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook.

This cookbook is jam-packed with not only recipes that can be prepared for $5 or less but also step-by-step instructions and tips on how you can pare down your grocery bill and feed your family for less. This is a must-read for those of you trying to stretch your budgets right now or anyone just trying to save in some areas so you can spend in others!

And Erin’s hooked me up with a special treat for my readers:

7 lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a copy of The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook! To enter, share your favorite inexpensive meal (links to recipes welcome!).

+++++++++++++++

Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

If you are reading this in your email or feed reader, please CLICK HERE to visit the original blog post to enter. Email entries will not be counted.

Methods of entry:

1. Leave a comment. Tell me what your favorite inexpensive meals are. How do you balance saving money and still providing making healthy dinners?

2. Add Deal Seeking Mom to your blogroll or add my badge to your sidebar. Make sure to come back and leave the link to your site in a separate comment!

3. Join the new Deal Seeking Mom Forums to chat about your great finds, special coupon codes, and chances to win exclusive giveaways. Leave a separate comment letting me know you’ve joined or that you’re already a registered user!

I buy roaster chickens when on a good sale and the first night it is roasted chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and then left overs become chicken ceasar roll ups with the chicken lettuce cheese and ceasar dressing on soft taco shells. Makes for several inexpensive and healthy meals that my family loves.

spaghetti and Pesto Chicken are our favorites. For Pesto Chicken all you need is chicken, cream of chicken soup, pesto and your favorite pasta. It is delicious!

I like to make pizza at home. I make the crust (or buy 50 cent just-add-water packages) and use whatever we have in the house for toppings.

My favorite inexpensive meal is a big pot of vegetable soup…granted that the frozen vegetables are on sale. I add ground beef and lots of spices to give it a great flavor. I usually make a huge batch and then freeze it for quick lunches throughout the month.

My daughters favorite is spaghetti w/garlic bread. Coles’ mini loaf = FREE @ Meijer, Meijer sauce $1 & spaghetti $.33 and that makes 2 meals for 4 people! (We just it tonight!)

Tonight I made Hamburger Helper with a huge salad. I got the meat on sale (about 2.00 a pound) and the salad was really cheap. All total for a family of 5 about 5.oo!!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
