Win-It Wednesday: ALL YOU Eat Well, Save Big Cookbook (7 Winners!)

January 20, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting several 24-hour giveaways throughout the day to give you plenty of chances to win!

All You Eat Well, Save Big Cookbook

I’m a foodie at heart, so I love trying out new recipes. When I heard that All You, my absolute fave magazine, was publishing a cookbook, I jumped at the chance to review it. All You Eat Well, Save Big is filled with over 140 meals under $2.50 per serving, this is a fantastic resource for those of us trying to live within a budget. These recipes don’t skimp on meat, and are full of flavor.

I love the fact that the recipes have a reasonable number of ingredients. My eyes just glaze over when I see those ingredients lists that are ten miles long. And I also enjoyed the Smart Tips that are shared throughout the book, giving advice on choosing the perfect pot, quick and easy side dishes, how to pick the perfect produce, and much more.

Of course, what publication from All You would be complete without coupons? The following coupons are included in the back:

  • $1/2 Jack Daniel’s Barbecue Sauce or EZ Marinader, exp. 12-31-10
  • $1/1 Lea & Perrins Thick Classic Worcestershire Sauce, exp. 12-31-10
  • $1/1 Marzetti Salad Dressing, exp. 12-31-10
  • $1/1 Reames Egg Noodles, exp. 12-31-10
  • $1/2 New York Brand Frozen Products, exp. 12-31-10

One family favorite is Crockpot Split Pea Soup–Sort & rinse 1 pound peas, bring to boil in 6 cups salted water. Turn off burner. In crock pot add 1 small diced onion, 1 small potatoes cut into small dice, 2 celery stalks halved lengthwise & cut in small dice, 2 carrot cut into small dice, 1 minced clove garlic. Add diced ham or bacon or a couple of meaty ham hocks. Carefully add peas with the 6 cups water. Season with salt, pepper, onion salt, 1/4 tsp. tarragon. Add 2 more cups hot water. Cover & cook on low 8 hours. (My crock pot automatically goes to warm after the cooking time). I serve this hearty soup with a crusty bread & a simple green salad. Note: if using ham hocks, remove hocks, cut off meat & add to soup while discarding bones.
