i start gathering snack supplies a month before (whatevers on sale) so im not making one big grocery trip right before the party. if everyone brings a snack, that really helps cut the cost too!

The biggestnthing that I have learned in throwing parties: it is all about the food! If you are on a budget than skimp on decor and use your funds to make your own food.

I always use coupons on the food of course, but I find inexpensive ways to dress up the table or serving dishes. The dollar store usually has rectangular “silver” trays for $1. I use tissue paper in fun pattern cut to the size of the tray to add some color and pop. The trays last for 50 or 60 uses before they start to look bad and the tissue paper is something I always have in stock.

I try to keep certain supplies for party favorites on hand. I buy when I can combine coupons and sales.

Get paper goods when they’re on sale/clearance (the year before if they’re holiday ones), make my own food instead of buying store-prepared trays, and my fav – ask guests to bring their favorite appetizers/drinks/etc, then I know they’ll at least have one dish they like and it gives everyone much more variety without me having to make 10+ different dishes!

We love to do it potluck style and have everyone bring their favorite dish or snack. It’s a great way to make sure there’s something that everyone loves!

Best way to throw a party that doesn’t cost a fortune – have it potluck style. If everyone brings something then you usually have a variety, you don’t spend a lot of time preparing & the costs stay down!
