31 Days of Homemade

October 1, 2012 by Tara Kuczykowski 3 Comments

I just wanted to quickly share with you a little project that I’m working on over on Unsophisticook this month! I’ve committed to posting daily for the next 31 days in the 31 Days in 2012 challenge, and my chosen topic is 31 Days of Homemade.

You can find a list of all of the recipes I’m hoping to attempt here, as well as links to some of the homemade items I’ve already shared, such as how to make butter and Bisquick mix.

My first post in the series on making homemade taco seasoning is up now — hope to see you all over there throughout October!

Game Day Tailgating Recipe Ideas

September 14, 2012 by Tara Kuczykowski Leave a Comment

It’s college football time again, woot! Can you guess which team we’re rooting for?

I just thought I’d share a few of my favorite game day recipes, like this 7-Layer Mexican Dip with Homemade Tortilla Chips. It’s super easy to throw together — no cooking required!

While the homemade tortilla chips aren’t a necessity, they seriously taste SO much better than those over-salted store bought chips. Make them up they night before and taste the difference for yourself!

And just a few more of my faves:

This slow cooker chex mix recipe is still one of my most popular recipes. It’s a game day must!

This corn casserole recipe is so good you’ll want to scrape the dish completely clean to get every last bit of caramelized goodness from the corners!

I lightened up my favorite hot spinach artichoke dip by swapping in 1/3 fat cream cheese, artichokes canned in water, and mozzarella cheese, but it’s still as delicious as ever!

These easy slow cooker ribs are every bit as good as ribs cooked on the grill all day long. But they allow you more time to focus on your guests!

Wash it all down with these easy strawberry daiquiris. I’m not kidding when I say these are the BEST EVER!

Around these parts, this is the recipe for buckeyes, also known as chocolate-covered peanut butter balls. Ohio State fan or not, these are delish!

What’s your favorite game day tailgating recipe?

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
