The following post is from the Deal Seeking Mom Project Administrator, Mandi Ehman:
Two weeks ago, I told you how I was using the Palm Pre Plus to get organized.
When I first started reviewing the Palm Pre Plus, I wasn’t sure I would keep it once the review was done since there is an additional monthly fee compared to a regular cell phone. However, so many of the features — browsing the internet, accessing my Google contacts & calendars and scheduling our DVR to record a show even when we’re not home — have made everyday tasks more convenient, and while it’s certainly not a necessity, it’s a splurge that we think is worth the cost.
I’ve found myself using these features the most:
:: Camera. I’ve taken a ton of pictures with my phone, and I think my mom appreciates the chance to see more everyday moments with our baby girl — cuddling with momma while I work, her first time in the exersaucer, her first taste of banana, and so on. And the best part is most of these pictures are great quality, so I don’t feel guilty about not pulling out my nicer camera!
:: Internet browsing. Even though we live in the boonies and don’t get a strong enough cell signal to browse the internet at home, my husband has been enabling the WiFi feature to be able to keep tabs on the NFL Scouting Combine and the start of free agency.
:: Calendars & schedules. Last week we unveiled the Deal Seeking Mom calendar to help you keep track of when deals and roundups are posted. I’ve added these calendars to the personal and business calendars I already have synced with my phone so that I can quickly access my entire schedule wherever I am.
:: Music. I mentioned on Twitter that I’ve never had an MP3 before, and it’s true. Two of my girls have MP3 players and my husband has one, but I’ve never had one or even used theirs. However, I do love music, and I always have a music station playing on the TV or my computer. But with the Pandora app, I’m able to listen to the music I want to listen to right from my phone. And unlike an MP3player, I don’t even need speakers!

I love the calendars. They’d really help me stay sane for a little longer. Trying to remember everything on my own can be tough. Thanks for the chance.

This phone would save me money on paper & ink because I’d be able to use Target web coupons.

GPS feature! I need it where ever we go. That’s great you can stay organized and knowing exactly where you are.

The calendar would be a great help to me – the queen of never knowing who has what activity on what day.
deb
I’d probably use it just because it was free and because the phone I have now stinks…and it would be nice to play around online when sitting in a doctor’s office wasting time….

Since all I have now is a basic Tracfone service, I would love to have access to my online calendar when I’m out of the house. The rest would just be a bonus!
Brigitte
I would use the internet while out at stores to check online pricing to be sure I get the best deal on something. Also to check consumer reports on things I am looking at, the internet would save me having to go home, look it up online, then go back to the store if it is a good item.
Cindy C.
Having WiFi also seems to come in handy in extreme situations. If I don’t have to run to my desktop everytime I want to look up something, that would save so much time!

The most important feature for me would be the ability to browse the internet. When we take our daughter to see her grandparents, I usually am without any internet, so it’s hard to keep up with bills, email, work, etc. I would love the Palm Pre – the only downside to it is the high monthly cost.
Sarah G
The calendar would really help me stay organized! I usually have post-it notes all over my desk and the house to remind me of important dates and engagements. It would be nice to have them all in one place. :)
Steph
* Which feature of the Palm Pre Plus most appeals to you?
The calender! I’m always leaving my planner where I can’t find it.
Sarah G
I would die without technology! Especially with the rising cost of stamps, I’ve streamlined all of our “snail mail” and I pay all our bills through the internet. I love the reminders that pop up to alert me when a bill is due, and how I can efficiently manage all our funds with the click of a mouse.
Steph
* How would you use it to get or stay organized?
I would be able to take pictures of my rebates, email myself reminders, and add to my to do list on the go!
Steph
* How do you use technology for streamlining and organizing your life?
I keep digital copies of recipes, reminders, etc. so I can’t lose notes.

And, I agree with Lynn N – the music feature is an added plus!! I haven’t been able to afford an Ipod, and I’m always jealous of my friends who have them when we exercise. ;) It would be awesome to have an ipod and a phone rolled into one!

i sometimes need to find a deal when out shopping, or forgot the particulars of a deal scenario. it would be great to head to my favorite site and score some freebies or great deals in the stores.
Leni
The calendar would be a very beneficial feature for me! I just found out I am pregnant and know that it would help me remember my appointments and important dates to celebrate along my journey. Technology is great and I love how it helps me keep my money, social connections, and my sanity in place!
Sarah
I use my work sponsored email to track all my calendar events and to do lists. I wouldn’t get anything done with out it!
Sarah
I think I would find the calendar and web browsing features very useful.
Jami
The calendar would be the most beneficial feature to me! I need some handheld organization!
Jennifer H
good idea Janet, yes great way to stay connected to all your posts and all the mom blog posts :)
diana
I love the calendar function, as a Mom of three all who have different schedules it makes my life so easy. I also love the idea of checking my websites when I am out and about.
Jennifer H
I too am obsessed w/checking the mom blogs for the best deals. So I love the internet feature very much!
maryt
I desperately need the calendar because my work schedule changes each week & I would really like having the internet feature. Thanks!
Kristi
I would find the calendar most appealing – I currently have an organizer in my car and to take to appts to coordinate appts for our family.
Irene
The calendar feature comes in handy. you can schedule all of your appointments and always have it handy because if there’s one thing you don’t leave home without anymore–it’s your phone!
Jennifer H
That’s right Irene! What on earth did ppl do before cell phones?? lol
Bobbi
Would love to use it for the calendar and scheduling aspect….with DH working two jobs so I can stay at home with the kids, all appt’s and activities are left to me. I often forget my paper calendar at home.
Bobbi
Also like the camera feature…. my phone doesn’t take the greatest pics and I hate having to carry the camera and phone everywhere!

Which feature of the Palm Pre Plus most appeals to you- the calender would be most useful to me
