Consumer Recalls: Coffee/Tea Makers + More

Coffee/Tea Makers

IKEA Home Furnishings, of Conshohocken, Pa. has announced a recall on FÖRSTÅ Coffee/Tea Makers because pressure from the metal pot holder against the coffee/tea maker can cause the glass to break unexpectedly, posing burn and laceration hazards. This recall involves FÖRSTÅ coffee/tea makers sold in sizes 0.4 and 1 liters. The coffee/tea maker is a press pot comprising of a handmade clear glass pot, metal holder and black plastic top and handle. Coffee/tea makers included in this recall have supplier number 20325, “IKEA” and “Made in China” etched on the bottom of the metal holder. The affected Coffee/Tea Makers were sold in IKEA stores nationwide from January 2010 through December 2010 for between $6 and $10.

OBall Links & Mini Rattles

Rhino Toys Inc., of Santa Cruz, California has recalled OBall Links & Mini Rattles because the hard plastic C-links on both ends of the rattles’ soft plastic chain can break, posing a choking hazard to young children. The soft plastic OBall is 2 1/2 inches in diameter and has beads inside a small plastic bubble that make the rattle sound. The OBall is attached to a 7 1/2 inch soft plastic chain by C-shaped plastic links on both ends. “OBall” is stamped into the top of the plastic chain. the recalled rattles were sold at Toys R Us and other specialty toy stores nationwide from April 2010 through December 2010 for about $8.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled rattle away from children and contact Rhino Toys to receive a full refund. For additional information, contact Rhino Toys toll-free at (888) 250-9969 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s website.

Consumer Recalls: Slow Cookers

Burlington Coat Factory, of Burlington, N.J. announced a voluntary recall of Bella Kitchen 5-quart Programmable Slow Cookers because the control panel can overheat and melt, posing a fire hazard. The recalled slow cookers are black with “Bella Kitchen” printed on the control panel. Only slow cookers with model number WJ-5000DE and date codes 0907 or 0909 are included in this recall. The model number and the four-digit date code are printed on a label on the underside of the product. The affected slow cookers were sold at Burlington Coat Factory stores from June 2010 through December 2010 for $20.

Consumers should stop using the slow cooker immediately, unplug it and return the slow cooker to Burlington Coat Factory for a full refund or store credit. Baby Jogger Jump Seats

Baby Jogger LLC, of Richmond, Va. has issued a voluntary recall of Baby Jogger Jump Seats because if the Jump Seat does not properly lock into place and could disengage from the stroller allowing the child to fall out. This recall includes the Baby Jogger Jump Seat, item #J7J50. The Jump Seat is a fabric seat accessory with the name “Baby Jogger” on the front that is attached to the mounting bracket on the frame of a Baby Jogger City Elite, Baby Jogger City Classic or Baby Jogger Summit stroller and allows a toddler and baby to ride together in the same stroller at the same time. The item number is printed on the product packaging. The recalled joggers were sold at juvenile products stores, mass merchandisers, and department stores nationwide and on the web from January 2008 through July 2010 for about $100.

Consumers should immediately stop using the Jump Seat and contact Baby Jogger to receive Jump Seat safety straps and assembly instructions. For additional information, contact Baby Jogger toll-free at 877-506-2213 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET, e-mail the firm, or visit the firm’s website.

Resistance Tubes and Resistance Tube Kits

Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc., Coraopolis, Pa. has recalled about 229,000 Resistance Tubes and Resistance Tube Kits because the plastic clip that attaches the resistance tube to the handle can break during use causing the tubing, handle or fragments of the plastic clip to strike the user posing a contusion and laceration hazard. The affected tubes and kits were sold at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and online at www.dickssportinggoods.com from October 2009 through November 2010 for between $15 and $60.

Consumers should stop using the resistance tubes immediately and return the product to Dick’s Sporting Goods for a store credit equal to the purchase price. Golden Tea Lights

Pier 1 Imports, of Fort Worth, Texas has issued a voluntary recall of their Golden Tea Lights sold with Ornament Tea Light Holders because the flame from the tea lights can burn with a high flame, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves all tea lights in golden tin cups sold in sets of five with either the Red Ornament Tea Light Holder (SKU 2473959) or the White Ornament Tea Light Holder (SKU 2473961). The SKU number is found on the packaging. The affected tea lights were sold exclusively at Pier 1 Imports stores from September 2010 through January 2011 for between $2 and $8.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tea lights and return them to their nearest Pier 1 Imports store to receive new tea lights. For additional information, contact Pier 1 Imports at (800) 245-4595 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or visit Pier 1 Imports’ website.

Consumer Recalls: Jogging Strollers + More

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

B.O.B. Single and Double Strollers

A voluntary recall has been issued on B.O.B. Single and Double Strollers because a drawstring on the stroller can get wrapped around a child’s neck, posing a strangulation hazard. This recall involves 11 models of B.O.B. single and double strollers. The name “B.O.B” appears on the cargo basket under the stroller and on the front of the stroller. All of the recalled strollers have a yellow/orange drawstring at the rear of the canopy which is used to gather loose fabric when the canopy is pulled back. Strollers have the serial number either stamped in the frame or on a white label located on the stroller’s rear right leg. For a list of model and serial numbers, go here. The affected strollers were sold at REI, buybuy Baby and other stores nationwide and on the web at Babiesrus.com, Target.com and Amazon.com between April 2002 and February 2011 for between $300 and $600.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled strollers and remove the drawstring. If using a separately purchased Weather Shield or Sun Shield accessory with the recalled stroller, contact B.O.B. Trailers for a free canopy retrofit kit. Asian Gourmet Cheese Rice Crackers

Haddon House of Medford, New Jersey is recalling Asian Gourmet Cheese Rice Crackers (UPC 076606-710889), because it may contain undeclared milk and food coloring additives used to create the cheese powder listed on the label. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. This recall includes all lot numbers. The recalled product is packed in a semi transparent red cellophane package with a black and white logo (ASIAN Gourmet – Rice Crackers – Cheese). The UPC number of 076606-710889 can be found on the back of the package next to the Nutritional Panel.

Consumers may return the recalled crackers to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers can address any questions or concerns about the recall to Steve Spatzier, Haddon House Food Products, Inc., by calling 1-800-257-6174 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday EST.
