Win-It Wednesday: TurboTax 2009 (2 Winners!)

January 27, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting several 24-hour giveaways throughout the day to give you plenty of chances to win!

TurboTax Premier Online

TurboTax is the #1-rated, best-selling tax software from Intuit Inc. In fact, last year more federal returns were e-filed with TurboTax than with all other consumer tax software combined. TurboTax walks users through their taxes step-by-step, with guidance designed to help users find every deduction and credit they deserve so that they get the maximum possible refund.

TurboTax 2009 makes tax preparation easier than ever with:

  • Built-in guidance for more than 350 possible deductions and credits, including the 2009 Economic Stimulus
  • Real-time error check immediately flags errors and missed information. Customers can fix mistakes as they go or come back later when they have their information in hand.
  • A system for double checking deductions and credits. An estimated 5.6 million eligible taxpayers failed to claim the Earned Income Credit last year, potentially missing out on as much as $4,600.
  • Instant answers from other TurboTax users and tax experts online via the TurboTax Live Community.
  • The TurboTax Audit Risk Meter, which helps customers avoid common errors and reduce their risk of an audit before they file.
  • Instant importing of investment and wage information. TurboTax customers can easily, accurately and securely import 1099 investment and W-2 wage information from more than 140 financial institutions and payroll providers directly into their tax return.

2 lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a copy of TurboTax Premier Online (ARV $49.99)! To enter, tell me how you usually file your taxes. Do you do them yourself or use a provider? Do you efile or file a traditional paper return?

We use turbo tax every year, have for at least 10 or so. Love it! Of course I always wait until late March to get it and do the taxes – I work best under pressure! But if I win, maybe I’ll get them done before March!

I do our taxes each year. We use TurboTax Home & Business. I have to use that one because of my Pampered Chef business. It’s great too, because it helps me find all income and deductions that I can possibly think of that is required. And, it’s quite user-friendly if you know anything about finances at all! Plus, I get to e-file! I don’t have to worry about mailing a bunch of stuff into the IRS! That’s nice!

Oh, and as for taxes, I typically print and mail via USPS, but I’m thinking about doing the e-file thing. I’m a bit nervous about it. What do other people do? Do you trust the e-file?

Over the years, I’ve used a combination of manual filing, telephone filing, TurboTax and H&R Block Online. One year I even used a CPA. I should mention that I HATE doing taxes. I have no idea why I find it sooooooo painful and have always waited until the last possible moment to complete the returns. This is … this year! … I will file timely. I WILL file timely. (Here’s to hoping!) Thanks!

My husband always insist that we do not need to spend our money to have someone else do our taxes when he can read the book and do it himself. Not sure how much $$ we could have gotten back over the years.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
