Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting several 24-hour giveaways throughout the day to give you plenty of chances to win!
Today is also the last day to enter to win $250 from Lottay.com!
Many of you have probably already heard of $5 Dinners, the blog written by my good bloggy friend, Erin Chase, that shares healthy, delicious, and affordable meals. And by “affordable,” I mean ultra-frugal — every recipe can feed a family for $5 or less!
If you’re already a fan of Erin’s or are now intrigued and interested to find out how you can prepare meals in your own home for $5 and under, you’ll be thrilled to find out that she recently published her own cookbook, The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook.
This cookbook is jam-packed with not only recipes that can be prepared for $5 or less but also step-by-step instructions and tips on how you can pare down your grocery bill and feed your family for less. This is a must-read for those of you trying to stretch your budgets right now or anyone just trying to save in some areas so you can spend in others!
And Erin’s hooked me up with a special treat for my readers:

My favorite budget-friendly & quick meal is baked ziti. Find both pasta and marinara sauce on super sales and w/ coupons. Boil pasta, drain, throw in the jar of pasta sauce, and add a few handfuls of mozzarella. Poor pasta mixture into a greased 9×13 pan, cover w/ more mozzarella and some shredded parmesan cheese, and bake for 30 minutes on 350. Delicious, easy, cheap!

I like to save money by using chicken thighs instead of more expensive cuts of white meat. I also try to use the slow cooker a lot because, in addition to being convenient, it saves a lot of electricity!

My favorite healthy and cheap meal is beans and rice. For just a couple dollars, I can make a huge crockpot’s worth, which will make at least two meals with leftovers to freeze. I also love that it is time-frugal as well as money-frugal! Takes about 5 minutes to throw together.
