Win-It Wednesday: TerraCycle Back-To-School Prize Pack!

August 18, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski 496 Comments

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

Every year BILLIONS of drink pouches, yogurt containers, candy wrappers and more end up in dumpsters and landfills across America. TerraCycle’s mission is to recycle these items into affordable, eco-friendly products. They’re making “upcycling” trendy with their adorable backpacks, binders, and lunch boxes!

Want to get paid for your trash? Join one of their FREE Brigades and TerraCycle will pay you per piece for sending them your non-recyclable waste materials.

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a TerraCycle Prize Pack that includes the following:

  • Capri Sun lunch box
  • Billboard laptop case
  • Honest Kids 3 ring binder
  • Paper pens
  • (2) Capri Sun pencil cases
  • Capri Sun small tote
  • Doritos backpack
  • Circuit board coasters
  • Circuit board picture frame

To enter, tell me how your family gets environmentally friendly. Do you recycle as much as possible? Have you given up paper towels and instead opted for good old-fashioned cloth?

+++++++++++++++

Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

We recycle newspapers, cans, glass/plastic bottles (our town has a special bin for each house with a designated day – so there is no excuse).

I agree with Meg G. above. Our family does many of the same practices as her family. We have so many reusable grocery bags for shopping. No paper towels in this house. Rags, rags and more rags. We recycle everything we can. Usually more recycling than trash for us. We use green products and support the local shops and farms and farmers. My husband rides his bike as much as he can to work and I walk my son to camp. We try not to use the A/C or the heater, if we can hold out. There is so much more but it’s time to clean!

Our family recycles everything we can. We also buy products that are in recyclable containers to help reduce waste. We don’t use paper plates or napkins. When we go out (like Chickfila) we take home the plastic milk jugs to recycle.

Our family does its part by recycling our water from the washer. We use earth friendly detergent. My husband connected the tube from the washer to outside and the water collects in a big trash can. We then use a water pump and have it connected to the hose. So when the trash can fills up we connect the pump and start watering our lawn and plants (non edible) . Not only to we use the same water twice (washing and watering the garden) and save gallons of water, but we save on our watering bill . That is just one way we help recycle :)

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
