Growing up in Kansas, my cousin, sister and I were allowed to decorate a cellar as our playhouse. We played all kinds of games down there. Pretending we were doctors in a foreign country, playing like we were Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. And playing hide and seek in the corn fields, we’d have to climb trees to find each other! And we always wanted to be Ariel in The Little Mermaid. We took turns and whoever got to be Ariel was allowed to sing along during the movie. Such silly fun!

I used to play store with my friend. One of us would be the cashier and the other would go purchase the food we got out of my mom’s cupboards.

My sister and I loved to play Little House on the Prairie when we were younger. We both wanted to be Laura Ingalls, so one of us was Laura and the other was her neighbor, also named Laura. We never had a playhouse…..that would have made our game way cooler.

We would always play ‘hot lava’ or ‘alligator’…where we would have to climb on the furniture or rugs etc. and stay off the floor or the ‘alligators’ would get us! lol.

As a child my parents had some land and there was a small ditch in the front yard. I loved making boats out of leaves and sticks and racing them down the ditch.
