As part of the relaunch of their Pregnancy & Parenting site, iVillage recently asked its readers to complete a Married Sex survey. Among the key findings were these interesting results:
- 63% of married women said they would prefer to catch up on an extra hour of sleep, watch a movie or read a book than have sex with their spouse
- 31% of women reported that they had a better sex life before marriage
- 14% of women have participated in sexting, while 17% have sent flirty email messages
- 44% of women said the quality of their sex life has not changed since having kids
- 23% of women have sex 1 to 3 times a month

We NEED date night! That or put the kids to bed early (easier in the winter…) and watch a movie together and snuggle on the couch.

Naptime is a great time for parents to reconnect. While the kids are down, take that time for each other.

Advice – Enjoy family dinners together. Date night is nice, but hard to do when the kids are small. The kids enjoy seeing the candles lit and happy parents.

Try to choose a day for date night. Once in two weeks is good…but make sure you stick with it!

My husband & I only get date night a few times a year, so I know how hard it is to make time for each other! I agree with another poster who suggested an early bed time for the kiddos. After our kids are showered & in bed, sometimes my husband will grab take out from our favorite restaurant, I’ll get a couple of beers & we’ll just kick back & talk.

Luckily for us, the babies (twins) are in bed by seven…. allowing my husband and I some much needed alone time. We also make sure one day every weekend is a family day or date night.

Get a babysitter and go on a date – dinner, movie, drinks… something you can do on your own!
Luci
Set aside a date night once a week for adult time… no children. Give date coupons ( you know we all love coupons) for a massage or something more seductive. Take turns making coupons for the other person , then cash in those treats on date night. Get creative.
Emily
Going out once in awhile is great, but sometimes hard since we don’t have any family closer than 30 mins away. We often watch some tv or a movie together afetr the kids (ages 3 & 2 mos) are in bed.

I suggest exercising together. A couple might not be able to have a romantic moment during exercise, but seeing your partner’s body in motion can re-ignite the desire that is so easy to forget when caring for small children.
Elena
a weekend away from the kids at a town over would be extremely worth trying that way you wont be too far in case of anythng yet you still feel you can have romance together
Luci
Tara and all her associates are great at couponing, so coupons for treats to your loved one (massage, kisses all over…etc ) can be fun on date night.

Getting away over night every 6 months and date nights.
