My three-year-old daughter has been asking to see the “Chicken Mucks” movie since she first saw the trailers several months ago. I have fond memories of watching the Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon on Saturday mornings when I was little, and of course I loved the Chipettes, so we were both thrilled when the Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel arrived on our doorstep last week.

The look on her face was priceless when I handed her the double DVD pack, and she insisted on watching it right away. Since my older boys were on Spring Break, we decided to hold a mid-day family movie session, and we had a blast. We’re getting to the stage in our family where it’s hard to find movies that will appeal to me and my husband, while still appealing to all of the kids, and this movie totally fits the bill.

Sure Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel can be a bit corny at times, but it has some great teachable moments, and the music will have you singing along — which coincidentally you’ll be able to do all. the. time. with “The Squeak Along” bonus disc. Ask me how I know, LOL.

    LOVE Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Chipettes! I grew up watching them as well. I was curling my 6 yr old daughters hair before school the other morning and she grabbed my diamond ring, put it on her finger and sung “if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it” while shaking her hips back and forth! I laughed hysterically!

    I’m a tad young (!) for the cartoon-but did have the LP! I would drag it out every Christmas for that song! I enjoyed the first movie better then the second, but things you do for your kids.
    How fun!

    I definitely watched the original when I was younger. Totally remember yelling “Alvin” running around the house with my sisters. We used to fight over which character we were. Now I have a 2yr old daughter who I watch both the older and newer versions with.

    Taking it old school ***singing*** “Alvin, Simon, Theodore…doo doo – doodo do doo”. I watched it every saturday morning growing up and loved it. Of course the chipettes were my favorite. My husband took my 3yr daughter to watch the Squeakel at the movies for their daddy/daughter date night. She’s been singing “All the single ladies” ever since!

    My family and I would watch Alvin on Saturdays. Now my daughter who is 3 is dying to watch the Squeakquel. I own the first one and she thinks it is sooo funny. I would love to surprize her with the second one!!!!
