Many Targets do not allow someone to use a coupon greater than the price of the item. I tried this deal and they wouldn’t let me use a $2 coupon on an item under $2.

If your target doesn’t let you buy the $1.54 travel size with the $2 coupon, there is a travel kit version for around $2.50 (small bottle of Renu and a contact lens case). Still a pretty good deal. I found these with the regular size Renu, not in the travel bins.

Oops, I fixed the coupon link!

Angie, I’d suggest you printa copy of the Target Corporate Coupon Policy and carry it with you on your next trip. It clearly states that the amount of the coupon should be reduced to the price of the item.

The coupon states 12 oz or larger so would this apply to the trial size?

Mine says 12 oz or lager too. They must have added that! :(

At our Target store in Grand Junction, CO, they only allow an amt up to the value of the item purchased; HOWEVER, while consumers here have to make do with the reduction, the cashiers have never adjusted the actual coupon, so I can only surmise that Target stores are pocketing the difference. I’ve asked the local managers about this practice, and they don’t deny it. Interesting….Next time you shop your local Target store, see if they do the same thing.

I had an issue with something similar today. For the past week or so my Target has had a few varieties of the Everpure shampoo priced at $1.48. I went today armed with several $2.00 coupons and was happy to see that they were still priced at $1.48. They even had a special sale tag placed over the regular price for $1.48. When I went to the register they rang up at $5.99. I went to customer service and the employee pulled the tag off the shelf and everything matched up for the tag and shampoo. The manager told me that it was a corporate problem and the only thing she could do was offer to let me use the coupon on the 5.99 price or pay the $1.48 price without the coupon. I didn’t quite understand this because they were advertising the wrong price. And wouldn’t they have made more by taking my $2 coupon and submitting it to the L’Oreal for $2 back? Just frustrating….

Oh, they must have added the 12 oz. wording. :( Sorry! It’s still a nice coupon for people that need the product — just not free unfortunately.

The travel Renu’s are $2.84 at my target now. I emailed Target on Friday about a problem I had with using the Gillette $4 off 2 body washes. The washes were $1.79, but another cashier (not the one I had) said they aren’t allowed to adjust coupon values anymore. this is what was written back to me.

Thanks for taking the time to ask us about any changes to our coupon policy.

We haven’t had any changes to our coupon policy. You can use one manufacturer’s and one store coupon per item unless either coupon prohibits it. If the price of the coupon exceeds the price of the product, the cashier should adjust the price on coupon to reflect the price of the item.

I called the Evans store and spoke to Ann today. She was sorry to hear of the trouble you had using these coupons, and said she would talk to the other front end leads.

If you have any problem in the future, please give us a call from the store at the number shown below. We’d be happy to assist you with this. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Central Time.

We look forward to showing you what’s new at Target.
