Consumer Recalls: Cilantro + Eggs

Orval Kent announced that is is voluntarily recalling 23 products containing cilantro as a precautionary measure because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella.  For a complete list of recalled products go here.

Consumers who have recently purchased the recalled products (including CA Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad, Trader Joe’s Cilantro Dressing and more) should not consume them and should return them to the store of purchase for a full refund or replacement.  Consumers with questions may contact Orval Kent at 800-544-1246 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST or email their Recall Coordinator, Bill Schwartz.

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Consumer Recalls: Britax Chaperone Infant Car Seats

Britax Child Safety Inc., of Charlotte, N.C. has recalled approximately 23,000 Chaperone infant car seats because the harness chest clip can break and pose a laceration hazard.  Because of the clips’ small size, it also poses a choking hazard.  The recall involves Chaperone infant car seast with model numbers E9L95P2 (Red Mill), E9L95P3, E9L95P5 (Cowmooflage) and E9L69N9 (Moonstone) manufactured between April 2009 and May 2010.  The serial number, model number and manufacture date can be found on a white lable on the underside of the car seat.  The affected seats were sold in mass and independent retailers nationwide, and on Britax website from June 2009 to October 2010 for about $230.

Consumers should immediately contact Britax at 888-427-4829 anytime, or visit the firm’s website for a free repair kit.

Consumer Recalls: Chest Freezers

A voluntary recall has been announced  on Haier America Chest Freezers due to fire hazard.  For a complete list of descriptions, including model and serial numbers, go here.  About 67,500 chest freezers are affected and were sold in Walmart stores, other retailers and through Amazon.com from January 2010 through October 2010.

Consumers should immediately unplug their freezer and contact Haier America toll-free at 877-878-7579 between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturdays or 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sundays ET, or visit the firm’s website.

Consumer Recalls: Raisinets and Mega Lollipops

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

Nestle Raisinets

Nestle USA has initiated a voluntary recall of Nestle Raisinets Fun Size Bags (10 oz.) with a production code of 02015748, UPC number 2800010255, because they may contain undeclared peanuts.  People who have allergies or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.    The affected products were distributed in the U.S. to Target, Shop Rite and Don Quixote retail stores.

Consumers of the recalled Nestle Raisinets should contact Nestle Consumer Services for a full refund and discard any remaining packages.  Contact Nestle Consumer Services by phone at 1-800-478-5670  between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. EST or by email.

Mega Pops Brand Lollipops

Colombine S.A. is voluntarily recalling specific lots of Colombina Brand Mega Pops in 14 oz. and 29 oz. cellophane bags because they contain traces of foreign particles.  For details of specific UPC codes and lot numbers go here.

Customers who return the product to the store where purchased may receive a refund or a store credit.  Customers with questions can call toll-free 1-888-317-2686.

Consumer Recalls: Dollar Tree Children’s Halloween Lanterns

Consumer Recalls: Dollar Tree Children's Lanterns

Dollar Tree Stores have recalled approximately 682,000 battery-operated Pumpkin, Ghost and Skull Halloween Lanterns because of a report of a bulb overheating, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.  The recalled lanterns were sold in Dollar Tree stores nationwide from August 2010 to October 2010 for $1 and are about 6 1/2″ tall.  The affected lanterns were sold in orange, white and black with model numbers 954437-13096-003-1005 (printed on the bottom of the lanterns).

Consumers should take the recalled lanterns away from children immediately, remove and properly discard the batteries, and return the lanterns to the store where purchased for a full refund.  For additional information, contact Dollar Tree Stores Inc. at 800-876-8077 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s website.
