Quick Target Shopping Trip: Spent $1.59, Saved $31.61

March 6, 2011 by Deal Seeking Mom 29 Comments

We ran to Target last night because I really wanted to get some of the FREE after coupons Excedrin. Unfortunately my store was cleaned out, so I’ll have to save my coupons for later this month. I did pick up a few nice deals while I was there though:

  • (2) Kashi GoLean Honey Almond Flax, $2.99 ea. — used (2) $3/1 Kashi GoLean coupons from Vocalpoint, FREE + $0.01 overage ea.
  • (1) Kashi TLC Bars, $2.65 ea. — used $2/1 Kashi Product from RecycleBank, $0.65 ea.
  • (3) Nature Valley Granola Bars (4-ct.), $1 ea. — used these printable manufacturer’s and Target store coupons, FREE.
  • (2) Crayola Pop Art Pixies Sets, $2.48 ea. — used $2/1 Pop Art Pixies printable coupon, $0.48 ea.

All together I spent $1.59 plus tax after coupons, a savings of $31.61! I used a $5 gift card that I earned previously, so my out of pocket costs were actually $0.

My store had lots of the Pop Art Pixies sets — regular price on this set was $9.99, marked down to $2.48.The Pop Art Pixies site will let you print two coupons, so that’s two toys for the gift closet for less than $1!

Scroll down just a bit on the Pop Art Pixies page, Kristina. You should see a little graphic that says save $2 on it.

So, Target is supposed to pay you the overage? Anytime I go there, they tell me I can’t use coupons that are over the price of the product.

I wondered that myself, Lauren. It’s been several weeks since I’ve used coupons at Target, and I noticed that the register prompted her to verify that I’d actually purchased the item after she scanned each coupon. When she hit yes, it took the entire face value of the coupon off. My guess is it could be a temporary fix for the issues we’ve been experiencing for quite some time now: https://dealseekingmom.com/target-news-my-targetweekly-coupon-value-issues/

They are supposed to adjust the price of the coupon down to the cost of the product. NOT outright refuse the coupon. I had this problem in the past and called customer service WHILE I was in the store. They told me that the store needed to accept my coupon, then I handed the phone over to the manager so he could get it from the horse’s mouth. SO SATISFYING!

my target would not allow me to use the $1.50/3 coupon as the product was not full size. I guess they consider the 4ct boxes to be trial/travel size or something. Just fyi! Those that could do it – good job!

I think the $3/1 Kashi GoLean coupons from Vocalpoint is dead. It is showing $1.00 now but say “There are no prints available for this campaign” when I clicked :(

Sorry if I wasn’t clear — this was a coupon that came in the mail with the samples. However, I highly recommend signing up with Vocalpoint if you haven’t already. They send out awesome samples and coupons!

Just went to Target today and that same PopArt Pixie set is still $6.98. However, I was going to return it and just use the coupon (since there was 4543534534 boxes of them), but the coupon isnt available.

I just was able to print two of the coupons at 10:48 AM EST. No problems so maybe they added more coupons to the print limit?

They had a couple of others sets that were priced slightly higher. Sorry but I don’t recall what they were specifically.

I just printed the Pixies coupon. Many times the difference is that the site is programmed to print on Internet Explorer not set up to print using Firefox. I printed on Internet Explorer.

I’ll have to get in there to check Pop Art Pixie’s deal. We noticed at Christmas time that one of them has the name Tatum and I happen to have a Tatum of my own. These would make Easter gifts.
