The following post is from the Deal Seeking Mom Project Administrator, Mandi Ehman:
Two weeks ago, I told you how I was using the Palm Pre Plus to get organized.
When I first started reviewing the Palm Pre Plus, I wasn’t sure I would keep it once the review was done since there is an additional monthly fee compared to a regular cell phone. However, so many of the features — browsing the internet, accessing my Google contacts & calendars and scheduling our DVR to record a show even when we’re not home — have made everyday tasks more convenient, and while it’s certainly not a necessity, it’s a splurge that we think is worth the cost.
I’ve found myself using these features the most:
:: Camera. I’ve taken a ton of pictures with my phone, and I think my mom appreciates the chance to see more everyday moments with our baby girl — cuddling with momma while I work, her first time in the exersaucer, her first taste of banana, and so on. And the best part is most of these pictures are great quality, so I don’t feel guilty about not pulling out my nicer camera!
:: Internet browsing. Even though we live in the boonies and don’t get a strong enough cell signal to browse the internet at home, my husband has been enabling the WiFi feature to be able to keep tabs on the NFL Scouting Combine and the start of free agency.
:: Calendars & schedules. Last week we unveiled the Deal Seeking Mom calendar to help you keep track of when deals and roundups are posted. I’ve added these calendars to the personal and business calendars I already have synced with my phone so that I can quickly access my entire schedule wherever I am.
:: Music. I mentioned on Twitter that I’ve never had an MP3 before, and it’s true. Two of my girls have MP3 players and my husband has one, but I’ve never had one or even used theirs. However, I do love music, and I always have a music station playing on the TV or my computer. But with the Pandora app, I’m able to listen to the music I want to listen to right from my phone. And unlike an MP3player, I don’t even need speakers!

I would use the internet. I have internet on my phone now with Sprint and am not sure how to work it. Every time I get online with the phone and search for a website it never seems to take me to a site. I hope Verizon and this phone are better than my Samsung and Sprint service.
Shanaka
I would use the camera or music features the most. I’m always trying to go grab the digital camera and get pics of the boys and blasting music from the t.v.
Beth
Would love to win, totally could use a new phone and the camera feature is awesome and all the features seem very user friendly, which is the key to a techy sort of product!
Shanaka
I’m very forgetful so the calendar could help me stay organized and not forget dates or to do’s. Like today I forgot until the last minute that I was supposed to mix up some sugar water for my husbands bees. I barely got it done it time.
Shanaka
Brigitte (comment #2) the giveaway is for a $50 Visa card not the phone though that would have been great too lol.

I could NOT function without technology. I have a home sales business, so it’s very important to have daily access to my website, email, cell phone, and more! Not to mention staying on top of all the good deals…it has REALLY helped my family and allowed me to be a stay-at-home mom!
Kimberly
oooh, I didn’t realize it has the Pandora app as well – I would use that quite a bit. I have the paid subscription (I didn’t need it so much as I wanted to support it) and it’s such a cool thing to have right in your pocket.

I like how it has the built in GPS with “My Location” I think it would help me get from place to place without getting lost so much!
Bryan
Browsing the internet from anywhere would be nice.
Stephanie
I would probably use the calendar and internet features the most. I’m always needing the internet to look up something, it seems and I never seem to have my calendar handy when I need it, so this would be great.

I think being connected to the internet appeals the most to me, but honestly so many of the features are appealing. As a graduate student, mom and blogger it is hard juggling a busy schedule and I have been really hoping that soon we can fit a smart phone with a data plan into our budget. I think the befits of being able to post a deal while you are at the store, or enter a task on your calendar while you are at school so you don’t forget all about it on the way home are phenomenal! And best of all, you will always have your camera with you to take and send pictures of your adorable little kiddos!

Which feature of the Palm Pre Plus most appeals to you? I like the Internet Browser for sure. I actually am at the stoe half the time and wish I would have seen that post on DSM before I bought that at full price, lol….
How would you use it to get or stay organized?
I;m a sahm, but it wouyld be very helpful in keeping track of a calender,my ebay selling,etc..
How do you use technology for streamlining and organizing your life? I get teased all the time that I live in “Prehistoric Times”,because I don’t own a cell phone, lol.I’ve been told by all my friends to start living in the 21st Century, lol….
I follow on fb and subscribe to your emails :O)

I love the layered calendars and Gestures. I would definitely use the multiple calendars to keep my work, home, and coupon worlds organized with less clutter in the mix! I use a BlackBerry 8900 but the Palm Pre looks to run more smoothly with less required menus and screen-changing.
Sandy (Your Life, Organized)
I am all about being organized and as a busy mom I am always on the go. So to be able to get things done and be more organized would be great!

I also love how you can have multiple apps open at the same time, websites, the phone, and I love that you can watch you Tube videos online with it, what a great way to entertain kids when you’re waiting for something!

i love every everything that you had to say about it. I use verizon right (i have a blackberry) Becaue of your post 2 weeks ago made me look into that phone. Now i am thinking i may need to snatch one up.
the calendar part is awsome and the fact that you can easily switch from each app is awesome!!!
Carol
This is great, the music feature looks amazing!
LaTanya
I would love the calendar function. It would help me not over-book myself!
sarah n
Music appeals to me! I love music.

I would use this instead of all my little notes I put all over. This could solve my ‘forgetting my list again’ problem. I love to check prices also while I am out so the web would be really cool to use.
michelle
ooo that sounds wonderful! i’d love to have access to all of the fun apps on the palm! i would use it to keep my schedule at hand–i never write anything down and i’m sure it would be a lifesaver! i also think it would be helpful in life to use it when i’m out shopping and i can’t remember what circular to find a coupon from in my binder–i could just pull it out, look up dealseekingmom and be all set!!!

Which feature of the Palm Pre Plus most appeals to you?
How would you use it to get or stay organized?
These two questions are kind of related for my usage. The calendar would be such a HUGE help for me. I am the caregiver for my mother who has Alzheimer’s and I am constantly carrying around little notebooks trying to keep track of all the appointments. This would be so much more organized.
I would love to listen to the music featurees, too. I spend a lot of time waiting in doctor’s offices now and it would be so relaxing to be able to listen to some music…and search the internet and check my schedule or make my “to do” lists.
Wow, that seems like a really great little thing to have. What a help it could be to so many of us.
Jami
I would love to be able to use the internet to help me stay organized.
Michelle T
I like the camera feature. It would be nice to capture those special kid moments.
Leandrea
I would love to be able to schedule my DVR from away home! Phone with internet are so cool.
Emily
The camera feature really appeals to me. I have a great digital camera, but the camera on my phone is terrible! No zoom and bad photo quality.
Amber
I would love to have easy access to the internet
Ruth
Last year I got a blackberry in hopes that it would help keep my calendar organized and help condense all of my scheduling items into one place. Unfortunately I find that it’s only easily used function is email. So I’m just as unorganized as ever and worse yet my blackberry doesn’t have a camera, so I have to carry both the phone and a camera.
I need to simplify!!
Emily
I use the calendar on my iTouch every day. I also use a To-Do List application. They are so helpful in keeping my life in order. Sometimes, I like actually having everything written down on paper though.
Emily
I have many “gadgets!” I usually always have my phone, iTouch, and camera, so it’d be nice to have everything all in one!
