Giveaway: Spring Cleaning with Arm & Hammer and Electrolux (6 Winners!)

April 13, 2010 by Deal Seeking Mom

The following review is from the Deal Seeking Mom project administrator, Mandi Ehman:

As the weather gets warmer, spring cleaning is on a lot of people’s minds and Arm & Hammer and Electrolux want to help Deal Seeking Mom readers tackle this big project with products that make cleaning easier and our homes healthier.

Arm & Hammer

We’re all familiar with the orange box of Arm & Hammer baking soda which naturally reduces household odors in refrigerators, pantries and trashcans and can be used as a natural cleaning agent, but Arm & Hammer also has a line of cleaning products that use the power of baking soda to help you tackle specific cleaning jobs around your home, including:

  • Arm & Hammer Clean Shower
  • Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Shaker
  • Arm & Hammer Scrub Free Cleanser
  • Arm & Hammer Carpet & Fabric Odor Eliminator
  • Arm & Hammer Essentials Trigger Spray
  • Arm & Hammer Trash Can Deodorizer
  • Arm & Hammer Fabric Softener Sheets

In addition, Arm & Hammer vacuum bags and filters are allergist recommended and offer HEPA filtration, which keeps 99.97% of small particles like dust, pollen and pet dander from being re-introduced into the air. With more than 120 different styles of vacuum accessories, there are Arm & Hammer filters for nearly all brands and models of vacuum cleaners.

Electrolux

Our family has always been a huge fan of Electrolux appliances, and we recently bought our first Electrolux vacuum, the Electrolux ErgoRapido Bagless/Cordless Stick Vacuum, which we love for daily vacuuming to keep up with the crumbs and dirt that our four girls seem to create.

So when Electrolux offered us the opportunity to try the Electrolux Versatility bagless/upright model, we were excited to see if it would live up to the standard set by the stick vacuum. It’s hard for us to find a vacuum that works well on our hand-crafted custom wood floors without scratching them up, but we were hopeful this would do the trick while providing us with more cleaning power than the stick vacuum or our resident Shop Vac.

The box arrived, and my husband immediately unpacked it and began vacuuming, and it really did live up to our expectations. The innovative handle quickly releases a telescoping wand system that reaches up to 14 feet. We’ve rarely used vacuum attachments in the past because of the extra work of hooking them up or switching power to the wand, but this process is automatic in the Versatility, making it easy to quickly dust a high shelf, vacuum hair off the couch or clean up crumbs in the snack drawer.

Additionally, the Versatility vacuum offers:

  • A three-stage cyclonic suction system that separates most of the dirt from the air before it reaches the filter, so the filter stays clean and the vacuum retains maximum cleaning power.
  • A bottom-empty dust cup to make emptying it easy.
  • A HEPA filter that removes 99.97% of small particles from the air while vacuuming and includes charcoal technology to absorb and eliminate odors.
  • Quick and easy switching from hard floor to carpet mode, making it easy to vacuum your entire home.

I need to sort through, purge & organize toys in the playroom. My kids always provide drama during this ritual.

Our garage is in desperate need of spring cleaning. It becomes a catch all and is suddenly overwhelming and it becomes hard to open the car door. However, the most dreaded spring cleaning job is cleaning the mini blinds!

SO MUCH TO DO! WHERE DO YOU START? I USUALLY TAKE IT ROOM BY ROOM, DAY BY DAY. THAT WAY – YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE GETTING SOMEWHERE WITHOUT KILLING YOURSELF.
AND EVEN THOUGH I HATE SHAMPOOING THE CARPETS AND FURNITURE – I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE WAY IT SMELLS AND FEELS SO CLEAN WHEN I AM DONE. ALMOST MAKE IT WORTH IT! :-)

I really need to clean out the basement. I live in an 80 year old house so the basement is kind of creepy which makes the task that much more challenging!

We, as a family, pick an area of the house to clean, turn on some music and get started. I’ll admit I end up doing most of it, but the music helps keep everyone moving for a little while….

Spring cleaning seems to be evolving in my family. This year, I am going to wash the walls in the living room and fix the lawnmower, as the grass is getting long. We’ll probably put the kids to work on the windows. My husband will supervise and most likely be the person who cleans the carpets. Gosh, I love being able to open the windows and get fresh air in here!

I clean the house top to bottom and under everything, but what I hate doing the most is cleaning all the walls!

I have to get all the kiddos spring/summer clothes out. I dread boxing up their old clothes because I know I won’t have anymore little ones to fill them. I also dread washing all the windows inside and out.
