Now that school’s back in session, the focus has shifted to helping our schools raise money to afford new supplies, equipment and programs to provide better education for our kids! This year, Avery Dennison has partnered with Box Tops for Education, and Avery school supplies now include coupons to clip and turn in to your school to be redeemed for cash.
Avery Dennison sent me this great gift basket of products so I can share my thoughts on them, plus I get to give the same basket away to one of my readers! I wish I could say I’m an organized person, but I subscribe more to the organized chaos theory. However, products like these inspire me to file things away in a more orderly manner. I enjoyed sorting and filing and labeling my papers with Avery’s easy-to-use systems. Now if only I could keep them that way!
And who could resist the handy tote it was all packaged in? I have baskets and totes like these all over the house to corral all of our stuff. We have far more “stuff” than we actually need, but that’s a project best tackled when I give these crutches the boot. Anyone want to help?
One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a back-to-school prize package (worth over $50!) full of Avery Dennison school and office supplies, including: Hi-Liters, labels, GlueStics, binders, dividers, sheet protectors, Marks-a-Lot permanent markers, and t-shirt transfers!
To enter, share your favorite way to get involved at your kids’ schools! Do you volunteer in the classroom? Coordinate the bookfair? Help with fundraising?

Well, my stepdaughter’s school is about an hour away from us, so we do our best to be involved. We go to all the school functions and I save up boxtops for her. She just turned in 250 of them between our house and her moms!

I go to my daughters class once a week and read to the kids. I bring the book (usually a nice hardback from the Books-A-Million clearance table, or thrift store) and leave it and others when I’m done. The first time I read for the year the teacher is always somewhat thrown off when I say the book is hers to keep!

I hate to say it, but I’m not doing anything this year.
I have been a room mother, taught art classes and organized paper work for outdoor science school in the past. Does that count for anything?
Lori
I am on the preschool board and I volunteer most Fridays in my daughter’s first grade classroom. I listen to the kids read individually.
Thanks!

For my daughter (1st grade) I am the lead room parent so lots of involvement with parties and activities, also help with the book fair. My son is in preschool and 1x a month we volunteer to help the teachers and I’m on the parent board, really keeps me involved and surprisingly organized!
Pat
I volunteer once a week for small groups of 1st graders helping them with their reading.

My oldest is in kindergarten this year, so it’s my first year to be involved in the schools. But I am my son’s room mom and will be going to class every 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday to help the kids in his class with writing.

I am working in my son’s room once a week to help tutor students. As a certified teacher on sabatical, I love being able to work with the kids but not have the teacher responsibilities!

I am a new kindegarden mom…new to elementary schooling and already a part of the PTA as well as the designtated Box Tops Coordinator for our school. I really need to get organized as I am still learning and this would be an awesome deal :)

I work close to my son’s school. So, when I get off early or can take a long lunch, I like to have the children read to me. It is a great program! Otherwise, it is lunch with the class mates or working the Fall and Spring events. I think the most awesome reward for me is when they want to update me as to what has happened since the last time I was at the school. Now that is a blessing!

My only child just started Kindergarten two weeks ago, so I haven’t volunteered yet. At preschool, I volunteered at her parties though.

My daughter is in first grade this year. Last year, I volunteered all the time. I was the homeroom mommy who was crafty with the glue sticks and decorative boxes.

As a working mom it is hard for me be involved in my son’s school life but I try to make it to class events as much as possible. My favorite volunteer activity is Family Read Day.

I’ve got a freshmen in high school, so I’m about volunteered out. My husband and I have done sports, PTSA, food booths, boy scouts, girl scouts, help in computer lab,and carnivals. This year I’m mostly donating from my stockpile, but I’m sure I’ll end up in the concession stand as soon as basketball starts. The school could definitely user all of this!
