Now that school’s back in session, the focus has shifted to helping our schools raise money to afford new supplies, equipment and programs to provide better education for our kids! This year, Avery Dennison has partnered with Box Tops for Education, and Avery school supplies now include coupons to clip and turn in to your school to be redeemed for cash.
Avery Dennison sent me this great gift basket of products so I can share my thoughts on them, plus I get to give the same basket away to one of my readers! I wish I could say I’m an organized person, but I subscribe more to the organized chaos theory. However, products like these inspire me to file things away in a more orderly manner. I enjoyed sorting and filing and labeling my papers with Avery’s easy-to-use systems. Now if only I could keep them that way!
And who could resist the handy tote it was all packaged in? I have baskets and totes like these all over the house to corral all of our stuff. We have far more “stuff” than we actually need, but that’s a project best tackled when I give these crutches the boot. Anyone want to help?
One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a back-to-school prize package (worth over $50!) full of Avery Dennison school and office supplies, including: Hi-Liters, labels, GlueStics, binders, dividers, sheet protectors, Marks-a-Lot permanent markers, and t-shirt transfers!
To enter, share your favorite way to get involved at your kids’ schools! Do you volunteer in the classroom? Coordinate the bookfair? Help with fundraising?

I volunteer to help the teachers and with three kids in three different grades and two different buildings, it keeps me busy. I figure that it is better to use my time for copying, filing and assessing the kids’ skills so that it frees the teacher’s time to teach. I also like to buy and donate things for the classrooms.

I always enjoy throwing holiday parties with age friendly crafts instead of candy treats. Foam ball spiders with pipe cleaner legs hanging from fishing lines on dowel rods has to be my favorite little kid Halloween craft.

My son just started school in a new community and they are very low on funds. I would love to receive that basket and have them auction it off to get funds for the school!
Karen
Oooh, school supplies (and art supplies) just give me goose bumps!
I love them!
I work part-time during the hours that my kids are in school, so I don’t go in on a regular basis during the week. My mom, a retired teacher, goes once a week to help in the classroom. I’m involved in other school projects, including coordinating Box Tops, painting murals and other school activities as needed.
I follow on FB, but I’ll make sure I’m signed up for the others. I don’t remember :)

One of the ways I volunteer is at the Fun Run to help raise funds for the school.

I am on the preschool board and I help with the big fundraising project in February. I also help with the holiday parties throughout the year.

I am a Room Mom, but I really enjoy being a member of the Auction fundraising team!

I work full-time, so am not able to volunteer as much as I’d like, but I do serve meals to the HS football team before the games, and help at the book fairs in the evenings. I also donate lots of baked goods for various activities at school, from family dinner night to teacher appreciation week.

With my son in Kindergarten, I have the joy of being a room mom. I help out 2 days a week. I help the children with crafts and “clean up time”. Ive also been nominated by other moms to oversee the rooms box top collection. The teacher and I have tried to make it fun for the children so that they will remember to bring them in. So far we are off to a great start. My son is my only child and somewhat of a mommys boy and loves the fact that I am in his room with him. For now he is proud of “his mommy” and introduces me to everyone. I enjoy being able to be a part of his classroom and the important part of his life.

I volunteer at my daughters school as much as possible. Even though I work full time, I’m able to volunteer during my lunch hour to serve an organic lunch to the children. I drive on as many field trips as possible and this year have organized a Sees Candy fundraiser. This will enable our PTG to buy needed supplies for the school, etc.
Melinda Lenda
I work full-time so I only get to help out with holiday parties and special events.

I’m new to volunteering in schools (my oldest is off to kindergarten this year) but I’m hoping to help out in the school library. We don’t have the budget to support a school librarian :( so parent volunteers reshelve the books, etc.
Mrs
We, also, are a homeschool family. Therefore, we are Very involved with school.

I am a subscriber and I help with the secret Santa project for holiday parties. We collect small toys, books, stickers, crayons, and so on so that each child receives a goody bag to bring home from Santa. Also I help out the family dinners where families come for dinner and in return they donate a gently used book that we donate to a local charity.
