Did you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?
I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.
Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.
For child:
- Vicks VapoRub
- Chenille Blanket
- Soothing lullaby music
- Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince
For mom:
- Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap

When I was a kid my mom would rub my head for hours until I felt better. We would just cuddle on the couch. It was better than any medicine than I could ever have taken.

Vicks is the only brand we ever used and it still is my comfort item in my household of 5.

When my kids are sick I always get them a ‘cool cloth’ or an ice pack for their head, they love this one! It really does work and they are always requesting the cool cloth, try it! :D

We are the chicken soup people around here. If it’s a bad cold, we use cough medicine (from my free stash, usually) but try to avoid that. Then we cozy up with books or movies as much as possible!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Vicks vapor rub always worked well for me. There’s just something soothing about it.

I keep home-make chicken stock in the freezer so I can start dishing it out while the fresh batch is cooking. Once the soup starts to simmer…and the kitchen smells like chicken soup…I bring the rocking chair into the kitchen, wrap the sick one in a blankie and rock-a-baby…usually within minutes, the sick one is relaxed and ready to start healing.
Terri L
Hot tea (decaf), a blankie, and some movies and we snuggle up on the couch.

The best remedy for us is lots of rest and lots of liquids including chicken soup. Thanks!

When our kids have gotten sick we put them in bed with us so we can tell if there temp spikes and we close the door with a humidifier running.
