Comfort Giveaway: Vicks VapoRub Prize Package (ARV $450)

May 9, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

vaporubDid you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?

I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.

Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.

For child:

  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Chenille Blanket
  • Soothing lullaby music
  • Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince

For mom:

  • Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap
  • L’Occitane Shea La Vie Gift Set and Hand Cream
  • Sephora Professional Manicure/Pedicure Nail Kit
  • Essie Spa Pedicure Mini Kit

Want to win a this fabulous Vicks VapoRub Prize Package?

Of course you do – I wish I could win myself! Just tell me about your favorite way to comfort yourself or your child when a nasty cold infiltrates your family. Do you have a special remedy that’s been passed from generation to generation? Maybe you make a big batch of chicken noodle soup like me.

My little girl always has a cold – she LOVES it when we warm her blankie up in the dryer and likes her penguin humidifier as well :)

We get in Mommy’s bed with a bunch of pillows and watch movies and nuggsie (as my daughter calls it). We also use the Vicks on our chest as well as our backs and pull the covers up and breathe in the smell. I ALWAYS have plenty of Vicks Vapor Rub … my Mom and Grandmother used to use it on me all the time and I love the smell. It not only makes me feel better, but it brings back so many memories.

We always use the cold mist humidifiers at night and then the baby vicks on their chest and under their nose. also, if you put the vicks on with socks, it helps with the cough

I am already an email subscriber and the best cure when the kids are feeling under the weather is some chicken noodle soup with extra noodles, grilled cheese sandwiches and popsicles for dessert.

I comfort my son by turning the futon into a bed in the living room, and snuggling with him while he watches TV all day.

I take extra vitamins and curl up with a good book and a warm cup of tea! And when my daughter is sick…..we watch movies together and eat fruit popcycles…..fluids and fruit!

My 13 month old hasn’t been sick yet fortunately, so I haven’t had to come up with comfort options. He’s a snuggly guy, so I’m sure he’ll like being wrapped up in a nice blankie in Mom’s arms.

For me I do hot tea and rest.

For my daughter I do a humidifier, and Vicks on her toes. Along with as much rest as I can get her to take. That isn’t always easy with a toddler.

When I am sick I drink hot and soak in a hot bath to comfort myself, I also sit in a steam room when my nose gets stuffy.

My dad would make tomato soup and put cubed toast on top when I wasn’t feeling well, and my mom would provide orange sherbet. It’s not the usual “get well” food, but to this day, when I need comfort, I have tomato soup with toast croutons and follow it up with orange sherbet. And it’s what I give my daughter.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
