Did you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?
I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.
Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.
For child:
- Vicks VapoRub
- Chenille Blanket
- Soothing lullaby music
- Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince
For mom:
- Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap
- L’Occitane Shea La Vie Gift Set and Hand Cream
- Sephora Professional Manicure/Pedicure Nail Kit
- Essie Spa Pedicure Mini Kit

My children are now all grown, but I do have my grandchildren over quite frequently, especially on weekends. When one of them has a cold, I use Vicks on them as I did with my kids. I also love to cuddle with them and especially rock them which always seems to soothe them!

My kids used to love it when I’d put their fav beanie babie in the freezer then let them snuggle with it…It feels good for them to put it on their head or chest…It also works with a washcloth to, since most of the beanie baby’s have worn out over the years.

When I am not feeling well I like to get in bed with a nice hot cup of tea and a good book. If I should fall asleep that is even better!

Normally my boys get a pop only on Saturday night. When they are home sick they get an extra pop! I figure it is important to have them drink as many fluids as they are willing.

I force myself to listen to my body when I’m sick, and slow down. That’s not always easy with a hubby and three active boys!

We homeschool, so when we are sick we do nothing….just comfort stuff like watching TV, we don’t stick to any kind of schedule, we just chill out till we feel better. I think the kids sometimes look forward to getting sick, lol.

I drink hot tea and get alot of rest. Hard to do, because I am always on the go. But it is my best medicine.

When I get sick, my lovely Aunt Renee makes me a big batch of chicken noodle soup that always makes me feel better. My family doctor even recommended it, if you can believe that!

We tend to do warm things, like a warm bath, warm blankie and hot chocolate.
