Comfort Giveaway: Vicks VapoRub Prize Package (ARV $450)

May 9, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

vaporubDid you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?

I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.

Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.

For child:

  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Chenille Blanket
  • Soothing lullaby music
  • Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince

For mom:

  • Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap
  • L’Occitane Shea La Vie Gift Set and Hand Cream
  • Sephora Professional Manicure/Pedicure Nail Kit
  • Essie Spa Pedicure Mini Kit

I like to curl up with a blanket, a box of Kleenex, a cup of tea, and a good book when I have a cold. I taught my children to enjoy the same ritual.

My little one is not a snuggler, unless he is sick. So, I take my little guy, (he’s two), and we snuggle up on the couch with his favorite blanket and read as many books as he wants; occasionally we nap in the recliner. I make sure he has lots of fluids especially if he is not eating. If he has a fever I’ll give him a bath and popsicles – which is great for sore throats too. If he’s congested I prop up his mattress in his crib and run the vaporizer. I will slather him with baby Vicks on his chest and back, (we’ve used that since he was an infant). Using Vicks always brings back fond memories of my mom taking care of me and my siblings when we were ill; with four kids my mom went through a lot of Vicks!

I make homemade chicken soup when a family member gets a cold. We raise and butcher our own chickens, so I know that there is a lot of goodness in that broth! I also make herbal tead for the patient!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...
