Comfort Giveaway: Vicks VapoRub Prize Package (ARV $450)

May 9, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

vaporubDid you know that kids can catch six to ten colds year-round?

I’ve never kept track, but that sounds about right. I don’t think there was a single week this past winter when at least one of the kids was feeling under the weather.

Vicks would like to provide one very lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader with a little extra comfort for both mom and child. They’ve put together a “Vicks VapoRub Comfort Care” gift basket valued at $450 filled with Vicks VapoRub along with some other favorite items to make children more comfortable. The basket includes a plush Little Giraffe blanket, classic children’s books and lullaby CDs. And don’t think they forgot about Mom, especially with Mother’s Day a few days away! They’re also including a 100% cashmere wrap, some favorite soothing skincare items from L’Occitane and a manicure/pedicure kit.

For child:

  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Chenille Blanket
  • Soothing lullaby music
  • Assortment of children’s books: Corduroy, Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Giving Tree, The Little Prince

For mom:

  • Nordstrom Cashmere Sweater Knit Wrap
  • L’Occitane Shea La Vie Gift Set and Hand Cream
  • Sephora Professional Manicure/Pedicure Nail Kit
  • Essie Spa Pedicure Mini Kit

Want to win a this fabulous Vicks VapoRub Prize Package?

Of course you do – I wish I could win myself! Just tell me about your favorite way to comfort yourself or your child when a nasty cold infiltrates your family. Do you have a special remedy that’s been passed from generation to generation? Maybe you make a big batch of chicken noodle soup like me.

With my little kids, we breastfeed for comfort. For my husband? Put him in bedroom with a closed door and keep the small children away. :-)

We snuggle up in jammies, drink lots of fluids, and sometimes watch movies. I always put VaporRub on my kids’ feet, covered with socks, before bed. I swear it’s the best remedy!

I make chicken noodle soup, homemade if I have the time, out of a can if I don’t, and I run the humidifier to help with a stuffy nose, and I slather the “patient” with Vick’s Vaporub to help with coughing. If there’s a sore throat the “patient” gets a popcicle, too, and then sent back to bed to give the body time to heal itself.

When my kids get a nasty cold, we use vicks vapor rub, the humidifier, breathe right nasal strips, and homemade chicken noodle soup.

I love the vicks vapor rub – I still use it on my oldest son who is 12.
I too make good ol chicken noodle soup and lots of rest.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
