We really believe in resting when any one of us are sick. Lots of fluids, soft palatable foods and soft blankets. We used Vicks rub at nighttime, my husband swears by putting a dab on his feet, too! I know it’s wierd. The kids all sleep better when they use Vicks for colds.

When my son is sick, I like to rock him in our rocker in his room. We get his favorite bunny that he likes to cuddle with and I read him stories and kiss his little head.

Long, steaming baths with a couple drops of eucalyptus eo in the bath, and Vicks on their chest when they come out and get their jammies on. We also wash their comforter that day and pull it out of the dryer after they get out of the bath, chilled.

Man, I was gonna say Vicks has always been a tradtion in my family… but this IS about Vicks…. my mom always rubbed vicks on my chest when I was congested, and when I wasen’t looking, she would pinch my nose with leftover on her hand! I now do the same thing with my kids! hehe…
Another thing that always seems to work is taking a warm bath with vapor bath… ahh… even is great when not sick!!
Thanks for the chance- this giveaway looks awesome!!

We use lots of vicks rub, I rock my littlest to sleep if he has a cold to help him breathe a little better while he is going to sleep, make sure the older ones are propped up. We use humidifiers in their rooms, always some water near their bed.

Since there is really nothing you can do to cure a cold virus, using soothing methods of treatment are the best way to treat a cold. Nothing is more soothings than the warmth provided by Vick Vapors.

I remember as a child my mother putting vicks on my chest & then heating up a towel in the microwave & then putting that on top of the vicks to help clear any conjestion. I always thought as a kid how yucky it smelled. But now as an adult I think it works great!

I cuddle with my sick kids. I think just having your mom rock you when your sick goes a long way for them.

I wrap them up in their favorite blanket and rock them while singing songs over and over

I let them watch a movie, and eat popsicles!

We have a rule in the house that if you are sick you can eat or drink just about anything as long as it sounds good to you. My grandmother hates this because she has certain things like chicken soup or cheese toast or applesauce that are the ONLY things allowed to be eaten while ill…
If my husband says spicy chicken wings would taste good, that’s what he gets. It’s a bit about the food and a bit about being comforted by the control to eat what you want too!

When I was growing up I remember the smell of Vicks when my mom would rub it all over my chest, and now that she’s passed, when I rub my son’s with it – it always takes me back to my mom and the memories of my childhood. God I miss her!!

Dealing with a sick child is no picnic (especially if you get sick, too!) but one of my staples is making a big batch of Lipton chicken noodle soup (the kids love all the tiny noodles it’s loaded with). Back in the 60’s my mom would make ME up a special Hot Toddy (honey, tea and a dollop of whiskey) and it actually worked! The small amt of whiskey made me rest better, while the hot tea and honey helped clear congestion. And mom was an RN, so she knew her stuff lol

I prop my kids heads up and plug in the vaporizer to help them breathe. They get warm tea with honey and lemon, lots of powerade and some ices to make sure they’re hydrated and a warm bubble bath in a steamed up bathroom. If it’s a nice cool night a walk in the stroller sometimes helps and definitely the chicken soup.

Cliche I know, but Vicks has always been a tradition in my family. My Grandma always rubbed Vicks on my chest and upper back, and under my nose when I was a sickly, congested kid. I used to dread it at first but I always felt better afterwards. As a Mommy & a Nurse–I rely on the same tried & true remedy for my kids! I also like to sweeten up my sickly kids with a batch of homemade cookies and my famous chicken noodle soup.
