I pick out healthy ingredients, but it seems like if I let my son help me make his lunch he is much more likely to eat it!

I am a mother of 3 little girls and 2 are in school , for there lunches I usually prepare homemade chicken and vegetable soup for the week and warm it up in the morning and put it in there thermo containers to keep it warm. I also give them fruit kaboobs and put a message on there napkin to make sure they keep there little faces clean. Sometimes they even get a popcorn necklace and they just love those.

My children are all out of school. But I teach preschool two days a week. When there is a note from Mom, the child really feels special. It is neat to watch the child’s face as I read the note. Also the children get excited when Mom includes a favorite food.

Instead of making boring ‘ole sandwiches all the time, I like to make everything finger food friendly. I like to roll up the lunch meat and provide something to dip that into, such as ranch, honey mustard, etc. Adding cubes of cheese and cut up vegetables and fruit make it fun and easy, plus it creates a healthy balanced meal. It’s also useful to provide dipping sauces for those finger foods so it makes them fun and appetizing.

I like to always have those tiny little cards in stock at my house so I can surprise my little one with a personalized “just because” card. I always leave words of encouragement and love.

My children and I will pack the lunch together. I let them choose what they would like for a sandwich, such as PB & J, turkey or cheese. However, I make sure that they have healthy side items such as carrot sticks, bananas, apples (with a side of peanut butter that they can dip into), or a granola/cereal bar. By providing them a variety of nutritious foods items, not only are they eating healthy- they are enjoying what they eat too!

I try to add fun notes, cute napkins, surveys (who did you sit by today?! what was your favorite food?), and special treats to mix it up and keep lunch fun.

I make my daughter turkey or ham wraps with lettuce, cheese, etc. I slice the wrap to make little swirlly sandwhiches. She enjoys this.

I use cookie cutters to shape my daughters sandwiches, she like to pick out new cutters so she has some variety.
I also add a small treat – chocolates kisses, smarties etc.

One thing we like to do to be creative is use cookie cutters to cut sandwiches into shapes. Occasionally I will draw a heart into the pb side of their sandwich when they want a pb&j for lunch =]

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
