Tune in all week for even more hot Back-To-School Giveaways, and be sure to check out all of the current giveaways for other great prizes!

To help kick off the school year and make school lunches a little bit more fun, Walmart, Smuckers, Motts and Pepperidge Farm have joined together to create LunchboxBuilder.com, a fun site where users can design their own lunchbox — complete with materials, colors and decals. You can print out your design and also add it to the gallery, where other visitors will vote on their favorite design, and the winners will receive an amazing prize package worth over $150! Be sure to take a few minutes to print coupons on some of your kids’ favorite snack foods while you’re there as well.

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will also win one of these great prize packages (worth over $150!), which includes:

  • iPod Shuffle (color may vary)
  • Insulated lunchbox
  • Sharpie pens in multiple colors
  • Colored pencils
  • Smuckers Uncrustables container
  • Optical mouse

i sometimes include ingredients to make a lunchbox version of s’mores (graham crackers, mini marshmallows and raisins) – my 1st grader thinks this is SO fun

i also like to include a note for her everyday and sometimes surprise her by having daddy write it or if i write it i do an acrostic of her name.

Every day, I send a Capri Sun with my daughter, in her lunch.

I use a Sharpie, and either draw a fun scene, or write a word + definition on the back. (Sometimes both!)

Last year, I taught her the basics of french, this way. :D

A good way to make school lunches healthy and fun is finding healthier versions of your kid’s favorite snack foods and making the lunch with your kid. This will make lunch more fun and exciting knowing that they had a hand in making their lunch themselves

I like to bake homemade cookies loaded with oatmeal, dried fruit, applesauce and nuts. As long as one M&M is placed in the center, everyone thinks they are “non-healthy”. LOL

My favorite lunch ideas: freeze our own PB &J sandwiches cut out into fun shapes with cookie cutters. We also love frozen go-gurts.

Healthy lunches are a challenge at our house because my daughter is not a sandwich or typical lunch type person. I’ve used the thermos to send a few meatballs in her lunch and she’s great at taking cut veggies and dips. We also do peanut butter & crackers and cut up chicken or turkey breast for finger foods to snack on. She likes that I make things portable (finger foods) and I like that she’s still getting protein & all the other nutrients a growing body needs without all the junkfood!

I love fixing my kids lunches! I always try to change them up – so they aren’t boring. I’ve written cute notes on their napkins or used stickers or gave a special candy! I like to give a drink, a sandwich, chips/crackers, and a sweet. Of course, I give grapes, or oranges, too! If my daughter has a test, I’ll tell her good luck -or if she is nervous about something, I’ll tell her that I’ll be thinking/praying for her! In the winter, I will give her something nice and warm in a thermos, like……spaghetti-o’s, homemade loaded potato soup, chicken noodle soup, chicken and dumplins! Yummy!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
