I subscribe via email and love the savings…..got many great deals for Christmas. Thank you!

Getting back in shape after the holidays is not much different than attempting to stay in shape all year. It needs to be a lifetime habit. It doesn’t have to be six times a week. A nice walk a few times a week is great, adding in some weight training and Pilates on another day or two. I try to get up earlier to do the exercise while the kids are still sleeping (after hot tea and Bible time). Helps get my day going. As for changes in the new year, just try to break the sweet tooth habit from the holidays by having dessert only every other night instead of daily. The whole family must participate in this. Most of all, play with the kids. They burn major calories. Just try to do what they do for even 30 minutes…..you’ll be exhausted!

I am pretty good about eating healthy year-round, but I just enjoy whatever food we like at the holidays. Around the new year, I’m slightly more motivated to get active, but it’s so cold that sometimes that motivation doesn’t manifest into something until spring!

  28. Nancy

    December 29, 2009 at 9:30 pm

I never stop my fitness routine. Throughout the holidays I still go to yoga 2x a week, walk outside or on the treadmill everyday, do floor excercises everyday and weights 2x a week.
While I enjoy party food, I balance it with what I eat at home.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
