12 Days of Christmas Giveaway: Win a Set of Handmade Olive Branch Wreaths!

November 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

Handmade Olive Branch Wreaths

The first thing that struck me about my Lindsay Olives’ Handmade Holiday Olive Branch Wreath was just how good it smelled when I opened the box. Then I was struck by just how pretty it is. I immediately hung it on our front door, but if I’d have received it closer to Thanksgiving, I would have loved to use it as a centerpiece with a candle holder in the center like the photo on their website.

This would make a lovely hostess gift for a holiday dinner, and even better, your gift will also help feed the hungry. Lindsay Olives donates all proceeds from the sales of the wreaths to Meals On Wheels. I love it when gift giving and helping others go hand in hand!

More About Bell-Carter Foods, Inc. and Lindsay Olives
Although they’re now the largest producer of table olives in the U.S., Bell-Carter Foods, Inc. is still a family-run business that will never forget its roots — roots that run deep and wide with the way they care about their employees, the community, the environment, and the olive trees that their growers harvest. And just like the olive tree, they believe in taking their time as they grow to ensure they never lose sight of their values.

We get a real Christmas tree each year. I also like to use the extra branches around my nativity on the piano.

I love pointsettas….we were married at Christmastime, and have some silk ones that were in my wedding bouquet. We re-purposed them in a little wooden sleigh with other greenery….every year I’m reminded of my wedding day as we decorate!

Since my childhood my absolute favorite Christmas green was princess pine. My Dad and I would go out looking for it growing in the woods around our log home and drape it over the fireplace mantel. These wreaths look gorgeous, too! I just finished teaching my children about ancient Greece and about how they used olive branch wreaths for olympiad prizes. Wouldn’t it be neat to have one on our door!

We hang a large wreath outside on our chimney and shine a spotlight on it. I like simple decorations like these wreaths. jenmizener at gmail dot com

We used an artificial tree until it was finally time to get rid of it. We will be buying a real tree this year and I have evergreen trees in my yard to cut from to decorate.

Our Christmas tree as nothing beats that wonderful smell. Also, we hang real mistletoes around the house :)

I’m a cedar freak. While at the farmer’s market last week I asked the local Christmas tree grower if she had any cedars and she looked at me in disbelief as she replied, “we have them growing all over the place but none in the farm.” Looks like it’s a cedar wreath only for us this year…

I love holly and real cedar branches mixed together and any kind of berries for added color. I change my decorations each year. That keeps it interesting for me to decorate and a little challenging. I would love to win the olive wreaths. I have never tried that greenery before so that would really be a treat!

We like to decorate with pine garlands and evergreen wreaths on our doors. We use real greenery on our doors and fake wreaths in the windows – they last longer and no one is near enough to smell them like the real ones on the doors. Plus it is a greener thing to do as they can be used every year. They are going on their 12th season now. My wife hangs them from the inside of the windows and they stay in great condition that way.

My kids without fail every year bring me home pieces of mistletoe from school. I put a piece of red ribbon around it and hang it in the door way. This is my favorite greenery and our fresh tree is my second favorite.
