I look for a shoe that looks well made... to an extent you can tell a good shoe just by the materials. Also I try to get a good fit and a good price.

Honestly, I'm just looking for comfy shoes for my kids. One of mine has a problem called "flexible curly toes," and he'll have surgery at the end of the month to fix it on both feet.....so he's always had to wear shoes bigger than necessary to relieve the pressure on those feet.....

Good support and durability.
First and foremost, it has to appeal to my daughter (read: pink or purple). After that, I need to make sure the price is reasonable and that they would be comfortable for her (the heels tend to hurt so I try to find some that would be comfy from the start rather than needing some time to break in).
