Kmart Deals: Super Doubles and Super Triples

by Tara Kuczykowski on April 19, 2009 · 46 comments

kmartThe much talked about Kmart Super Double/Super Triple event is here!

You can check out the double coupons list and the triple coupons list here on Deal Seeking Mom to see if your store is participating, or you can view your ad online at However, please be aware that the listing at was not accurate for many areas last time.

Terms of the event:

  • KMart will be offering super double coupons at participating locations and triple coupons at select stores April 19-25.
  • Stores participating in super double coupons will double coupons with a value up to $2.
  • Stores participating in triple coupons will triple coupons with a value up to $0.75 and double coupons with a value up to $4.
  • There's a limit of 25 coupons per customer per day.

Tips for organizing your shopping trip:

  • Leave the kids at home so you're not distracted.
  • Keep your transaction small. Plan to buy all of the items you have coupons for together.
  • Compile a running list of the prices as you're shopping.
  • Watch carefully as coupons are scanned to make sure they're doubled/tripled correctly.
  • Check your receipt when you get to your car. Any adjustments can be made much more easily now than later.

Here's just a few of my faves from the extensive list that Mercedes at Common Sense with Money put together. This doesn't even scratch the surface, so be sure to check out her site too!

Once again, Virginia gets no doubles! Rats!

2 Deanna April 19, 2009 at 3:39 pm

None in my area either! Oklahoma. K Mart is all but gone around here anyways!

3 Jennifer April 19, 2009 at 4:48 pm

I tried to use a coupon for 1.50 off of wipes (doubled it would be $3 off) that were marked at 2.99 but the cashier wouldn't take it. She said the ad clearly states that the doubled coupon amount couldn't be larger than the retail price of the item. Boo!

4 Cheran April 19, 2009 at 5:26 pm

no doubles here in GA either.

At my KMarts coupons double up to the item price. So a $1.50 coupon on a $2.99 item rings up as $1.50 plus another $1.49 off. That's the way it's supposed to work. Sorry your store was a pain. I even had a $3 coupon for a $2.50 item and they gave me the whole $3 off.

I did 4 transactions total at KMart. It was crazy busy but well worth it. I saved hundreds!

Mary, it should pop up after you register. Do you have a pop-up blocker enabled on your browser?

9 jen April 19, 2009 at 7:51 pm

In my ad, it also says that the double value cannot exceed the value of the product. I am afraid of going and nothing working if it is supposed to be free or a money maker. any tips? also, if a coupon says "do not double" do they stick to that?

10 Suzette April 19, 2009 at 9:05 pm

At my local Kmart, on a $3.49 item, I had a $2 off coupon. They scanned the coupon and the "doubling" automatically went on my receipt for $1.49 off so that it was free.
Also, I followed the link for the baby wipes and it only came up as a $.50 off coupon.

11 Tara Kuczykowski April 19, 2009 at 9:14 pm

Suzette, the Huggies Bath & Body coupon is valid on wipes. I guess I should specify that in the deal. Thanks for pointing it out!

12 Morganna April 19, 2009 at 10:42 pm

I was wondering if anyone is having any luck using printable coupons in the Columbus, OH area Kmart stores? I have a bunch and don't want to waste my time getting the items and standing in line just to find out they don't honor them. Thanks in advance for any information!

13 Laurie April 19, 2009 at 11:07 pm

Unless I've got the wrong Q, the printable Huggies diapers Q for $1.50/1 says "excludes jumbo pack" which is what is on sale for $9.99, so that deal won't work. There were some mailers sent out, however that had $1.50/1 Q with no exclusions (don't have but saw on Ebay). Please let me know if I'm wrong. (I hope I am cause this cheap mamma's baby needs diapers tomorrow!)

14 Tara Kuczykowski April 19, 2009 at 11:27 pm

Oh, darn, you're right, Laurie. That's odd – I don't think I've ever seen them do that before. If you can get multiple copies of today's insert, there was the $1.50/1 in it.

15 Laurie April 19, 2009 at 11:34 pm

Unfortunately, no Huggies Qs in my Sunday paper this week. And the in-home mailer we got in this area had the $3/2 Q. It's a sad day in IA... but at least we HAVE the double coupon days this time!

16 Eileen April 19, 2009 at 11:37 pm

I am so excited this is all new to me and I went to Double Coupons at KMART and I bought 2 dry idea deoderant , 1 right guard deoderant, 4 cans pringles, 3 single stride gums, 1 soft soap, 3 Trail mix crunch cereal, 2 pkgs huggies 64 ct. wipes, 4 pkgs pupperoni dog treats, 2 V-8 Fusion juices, and had I used the $5 off of $50 I would have made it under $2 but as a beginner I missed that and spent $6.51.
Thanks for all the help and I hope to get much better.

17 maria April 20, 2009 at 8:22 am

what about the ones that say do not double on them? will they still double those?

18 Jennifer April 20, 2009 at 9:20 am

maria, yes they will still double -- i went yesterday with the same concern, and no problems in PA

19 Raquel April 20, 2009 at 9:28 am

hello everyone i'm new to using coupons between me and my fiancee we have 5 kids so I am trying to save us some money. I dont understand what the SS in the parenthesis mean (SS) . Could someone please explain this to me. I would love to take advantage of the triple copoun deals but am a little lost.

20 Tara Kuczykowski April 20, 2009 at 10:05 am

Hi Raquel! You can find a list of the couponing terms I use in my quick reference guide. It can easily be found in the future by clicking on the Coupons tab at the top of each page.

21 Raquel April 20, 2009 at 10:50 am

Thank you Tara, I am still learning and I appreciate you taking the time out to help others. :)

22 Dee Dee April 20, 2009 at 12:21 pm

In central FL, my Kmart was great. Went to Sebring, FL and Winter Haven, FL. Both stores took my coupons up to the sales price.
My Halls Cough Drops were on sale for $1.37 a package. I had $.75 coupons. The register automatically took .75, then .62. Nothing to it. But NO TRIPLES!!! We're so sad about that.

23 Molly April 20, 2009 at 3:43 pm

I went to two different Kmarts (one was a super K with grocery) and did very well on so MANY items.
One fav was the Biore skin product. Kmart had buy one get one half price then I had 2 of the $2 coupons that doubled so ended up getting the 2 bottles for about $1.80!! the $2 off coupons are in the Kmart booklet of manufacturer coupons they gave out at register. WOOOT!
We had no triples in NW Ohio but they did do the rounding and did not reject coupons. Had 2 very nice cashiers .
Thanks Tara for all the help and fun you make of this savings :)

24 Maria April 20, 2009 at 8:08 pm

I went close to closing last night and 7 of my coupons didn't double, I still got half off, but they told me if I came back they would work something out.

Also the V8 coupon is only good for the two new flavors, my kmart didn't have the new flavors so cashier told me I was out of luck!

25 Eileen April 20, 2009 at 11:14 pm

Went back shopping today in Peru Illinois and was bummed I had 2 seperate orders totally over $50 and handed in the $5 off of $50 and wasn't given the $5 off due to all the other coupons following.
Peru says it can't be used iwht all the other coupons. So lost out on $10 in savings and they missed another $10 in coupons to be taken off. So really watch and check to make sure you actually did get the $5. My receipt said I did but after going back to cutomer service they had to admit I didn't. But I still saved and will be more watchful. Thanks to Tara and all who are showing me the way to save money.

26 Laurie April 21, 2009 at 1:18 am

Tara, I can't begin to thank you enough. I've only been couponing for a month and what I've learned from you via this blog has truly been life changing! I hope your realize what a positive impact you have on the quality of life for so many families! Today at K-Mart they missed 3 of my $2 off Qs somehow while checking out and because I did just what you said (keep a running total as you shop, check your receipt when you get to your car), I was easily able to reconcile the problem within minutes of it happening. And I approached the customer service desk with all the confidence in the world because of what I've learned here. Thank you again for this amazing blog and all your hard work!

27 Tara Kuczykowski April 21, 2009 at 8:50 am

Good for you, Laurie! And thank you for coming back and sharing that my tips helped. It's nice to know that they've made a difference for others.

28 ilja April 21, 2009 at 2:03 pm

when kmart means they are doubling does that mean you have to use two coupons for each item you buy.

29 ilja April 21, 2009 at 2:08 pm

my second question? if you have a 2.oo off coupon and something cost 3.99
and it doubles will it double to 4.00 off so that product will be FREE.
this is if my kmart is doubling coupons up to 2.00 !
and my kmart is doubling coupons up to 2.00!

30 Tara Kuczykowski April 21, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Ilja, you only need one coupon per item. If an item s $3.99 and has a $2 coupon, then you will have $3.99 deducted. Kmart doesn't give overage. Hope yours has the double coupons!

31 Amy in Kansas April 21, 2009 at 3:15 pm

I went to Kmart in Hutchinson Kansas and nothing seemed to ring up right. I had what should of been about $40 worth of stuff and was charged over $80! Total rip off. I dont understand why it did not work. The lady scanned my coupons but appeared to not know what she was doing...because I only recieved a partial disount. I still cannot make any sense of the reciept. This is my first time couponing so if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

32 ilja April 21, 2009 at 3:24 pm

are you serious i did not know that thank you so much! so you only use 1 coupon for an item! and when they scan it there system know right away what to do and then it doubles right! thanks!

33 Tara Kuczykowski April 21, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Amy, it sounds like your coupons weren't doubled. The only way to have it fixed is to take your receipt back to the customer service desk at the Kmart you purchased at. Good luck!

Yep, that's right, Ilja! Some stores may have to double it manually, but you only need one coupons per item.

34 katie n April 21, 2009 at 5:49 pm

I went to one K-mart and they were so rude I filled a complaint with corporate. They would not take my internet coupons. I was told by corporate they would not accept internet coupons, but were sorry the lady was rude to me. I then got a call from the store manager. I gotta call him back, maybe I will get some freebes for that? LOL

Anyways. A K-Mart 5 miles away took the internet coupons and me and the guy cashier had a good laugh over the ordeal since none of my coupons would scan and a female cashier came over and it worked. I saved over $30 and he was super nice.

Anyone know how to get more HUGGIES DIAPERS coupons? Having babies we go thru tons of Diapers so if anyone knows another spot besides I would appreciate it.
thanks EILEEN

36 maria April 22, 2009 at 2:24 pm

my kmarts (two of them) in the kc area took everything! didnt even look at them as long as they scanned

subtotal 197.78
total after coupons 32.49- and that is only purchasing what i needed anyway- everything else that was a luxury or something i wouldnt buy anyway (like some fragrance items) i only purchased if they were under 25 cents!

also the $5 off 50 worked for me both times as did the scotts coupon for 2.99 after 50 dollar purchase

37 Ruthie April 22, 2009 at 2:56 pm

My Kmart in Anaheim, CA did not accept internet coupons. I emailed HQ and this is the response that I got:

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding internet coupons. We are always interested in hearing from our customers, and appreciate yourinterest in shopping with us.
Kmart stores are now accepting internet coupons. Internet coupons will not be doubled nor tripled during the double coupon events. Please be aware that we can only accept the coupon if it will scan at the registers. We are unable to manually enter internet coupons. Kmart will not accept coupons for more than about 75% of a product's value. Coupons will be rejected if they appear distorted or blurry, altered in any way, or are obvious duplicates. Kmart will not accept "FREE product" (no purchase required) print-at-home coupons. Buy one get one free coupons and other values that have a purchase requirement are acceptable.
If your local store continues to refuse coupons meeting the above
requirements, please let us know.
Once again, thank you for contacting us about using internet coupons. We appreciate your business and value you as a Sears Holdings customer. We certainly hope you will continue to make Sears Holdings your choice for quality and value.

I was reading that alot of you were able to use the internet coupons and that it was also doubling them. I dont know if I should take this letter with me when I go again since it states that internet coupons are not doubled?????? Please help?

38 maria April 23, 2009 at 8:54 am

i wouldnt- unless they deny you the use of them all together in store

as long as they scan they are being doubled
ive tried four stores and all doubled internet
also on my internet ones very few say do not double so therefore they will still get their value back for them

you do a great job with your website!! I was just wondering if you knew are they going to do kmart double days for Rochester NY this 5/3? They only did Queens and 1 other city this past week. I am so excited to do this again. Please let me know if you find out anything. Thanks kim Walier

43 Ruthie April 29, 2009 at 2:51 pm

Hi Ladies

My receipt says that Kmart is going to do double coupons again on May 3rd. Does anyone know if in fact this is true. I tried to email corp headquarters and was told that they do not know when the next double coupon event will be held.
I got such great deals on dog treats that I am looking forward to my next adventure. I took my girlfriend with me and she just could not believe the amount of money that I was saving on every trip. I shopped every day for different treats for five dogs (2 are mine, 1 my parents and 2 my girlfriend). Some days I shopped at 2 Kmarts for the great deals. My bills would be any where from $55-75 and I would only pay $9-18. I was able to buy Jumbones, Good Bites, Begging Strips (all varities), Carvers and T-Bonz.

44 Tara Kuczykowski April 29, 2009 at 2:59 pm

I've heard that they are doing doubles again starting 5/3. If anyone gets confirmation on stores that are participating, I'm happy to start an ongoing list again on my site!

45 Amy in Kansas April 29, 2009 at 3:11 pm

I took my items back with my reciept (new to couponing). My coupons were not doubled. I also made the mistake of taking my kids along and it was near closing time when I was ready to check out. I was not about to argue over the coupons being doubled at closing...the girl had already told me it was correct, which it was not. I went over my reciept and marked the prices I should of paid for items that I knew, and went back, and the manager did his best to correct the mistake and tripled my coupons to make up for my inconvience. It was well worth my time to go back to the store and question the price and show them with the reciept that items were not doubled. I ended up getting $90 worth of stuff for $1.21!!! Not bad for a first time experience.

46 maria April 30, 2009 at 11:02 am

Dear Maria ,

Thank you for contacting Kmart regarding the Kmart Double Coupon Event.
We appreciate your interest in this promotion. This event is for select Kmart locations from 5/3-5/9. Coupons will be doubled up to $2.00 and up to 25 per person per day. Unfortunately none of our Kansas stores will be tripling coupons.

We appreciate your business and value you as a Sears Holdings customer.
We certainly hope you will continue to make Sears Holdings your choice for quality and value.
