My favorite way to make beans is to cook up a big pot of pinto beans and mash them in a skillet for homemade refried beans for healthy burritos topped with lettuce, tomato, and fat free sour cream.

I used canned beans (mainly kidney or chick peas) as a salad topper, and also when I make chili. I’m too chicken to try dried beans, so maybe I’ll win the book to help me overcome my fear!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
