Win-It Wednesday: Sony Vaio Netbook + F-Secure Internet Security!

September 29, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski 2,278 Comments

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

With school back in session, more kids will be online than ever before doing homework, looking up information and playing educational games in addition to the hours spent on Facebook and emailing and instant messaging friends they would normally do. Keeping them safe as they browse is important, so you don’t have to worry about what websites they’re clicking through to and you can protect your computer as well from viruses and other internet threats.

F-Secure’s Internet Security 2011 features Browsing Protection to keep viruses, worms and spyware at bay, not allowing your children to click through to those sites. There are also advanced Parental Controls so that you can block sites with inappropriate content and keep your kids safe.

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom winner will win a Sony Vaio 10″ Netbook and 1-year of F-Secure’s Internet Security 2011!

To enter, visit the F-Secure website and then come back and tell me one thing you learned about staying safe online while you were there.

+++++++++++++++

Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

If you are reading this in your email or feed reader, please CLICK HERE to visit the original blog post to enter. Email entries will not be counted.

Methods of entry:

1. Leave a comment. Visit the F-Secure website and tell me one thing you learned there.

2. Join the Deal Seeking Mom community on Facebook for more conversation, additional deals and a peek at the freebies I receive in the mail each week. Come back and leave a separate comment letting me know you’ve done so!

3. Join the Deal Seeking Mom Forums to chat about your great finds, special coupon codes, and chances to win exclusive giveaways. Come back and leave a separate comment letting me know you’ve joined or that you’re already a registered user!

4. Subscribe to my feed via RSS or email. You must confirm your email subscription for it to be a valid entry! Leave a separate comment letting me know you have done so. If you’re already a subscriber, simply leave a separate comment letting me know you’re already subscribed. Lovin’ my subscribers! You guys make this all possible.

Prize:
(1) 10″ Sony Vaio Netbook and 1-year F-Secure Internet Security 2011

This giveaway ends at 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, 9/30 and is open to all U.S. residents 18 years or older. I’ll use Comment Contest to select the winning comment. I hate spam, but I didn’t know that it could infect your computer with hidden programs that steal your personal information, such as passwords and online banking details. Scary!

i learned that many online social networks encourage users to import content like video clips and also accept third party add-on applications. This can be exploited by virus writers as a way of getting malicious code into the networks, such as the worm which spread rapidly on Orkut’s web site last year, infecting an estimated 655,000 users in Brazil.

I learned that social networking is not just about social networking. Be very careful what information you share on FB, especially personal information such as your home phone number, address, birth date, and definintely when you leave the house.

I learned that by using this software you can use parental controls to block what your children are viewing. But this is not all that is necessary to keep your children safe you need to establish trust and good communication with your children for this to bevery effective! There are ways around everything now a days!
