Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!
Looking for a fun, summer project to do with the kids? KLUTZ books always have some great options, like this new KLUTZ Glossy Bands book. The Klutz Glossy Bands book comes with everything you need to create beautiful, stretchy bracelets to share with your friends. Plus you can tailor the designs to your child’s skill level — from a simple two-color dot bracelet to a more complicated four-color flower bracelet.
If your child is into the Silly Bandz craze, he or she is sure to love making Glossy Bands! The book comes with enough gel to make 14 bracelets, so this should provide several rainy days’ worth of fun. Though it’s not demonstrated in the book, they also mention that you can make rings using the same techniques, so I’d imagine you could stretch it even further this way.
Five lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a copy of the Klutz Glossy Bands book with 4 colors of gel, clear plastic work surface, swirling sticks, and Klutz clear instructions for tons of bracelet designs!

I loved making macrame bracelets and bracelets made out of gimp. I’m not sure what the technical term is for gimp, but that’s what we called them. Gimp was a stretchy plastic string that you could buy for dirt cheap at craft stores. Then you had to weave them a certain way to make bracelets which wasn’t always easy! We would walk half hour to the nearest craft store just to buy gimp. That’s how much we loved it. We would spend all day making them, trade them, and see who had the most colorful collection. I’m just now teaching my 7 year old daughter how to gimp. Hopefully they will be “cool” once again!

I loved doing crafts even as a kid. We didnt’ get to do too many during summer, mostly baking yummy treats, but we also got to make hair bows and barrettes (the woven ribbon kind with beads on the ends) for fun often during summer.

When I was growing up my mom would never do crafts with me. She was and always has been a shopper.
My kids love to do crafts and I would like to be able to do this one with them.

When I was a kid, I loved making “fuzzies”, little yarn pom-poms. There was a story that went along with them but I don’t remember it. I just liked to make the yarn poofs.
Now, my nephews and I enjoying making things we can play with. We made slime and marshmallow blow guns not long ago. That was all sorts of fun.

Heh. I’m trying to remember doing crafts while simultaneously forgetting my childhood. I had art classes in school. would that count? I remember pressing fall leaves in wax paper, or pencil rubbings. I’m not exactly what you call crafty and I really didn’t have family that nurtured that aspect of me. My kids love crafts though. I took my oldest to Michaels and she loooves beading. My two younger ones love anything that uses their imaginations. This looks like it would be a great Saturday activity for when its raining.
