Win-It Wednesday: Keurig Single-Cup Brewer and New K-Cups!

November 10, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski 2,351 Comments

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting a 24-hour giveaway to give you plenty of chances to win!

I’ve shared my thoughts on Keurig Single-Cup Brewers in the past, and I still love my Keurig just as much today.

I’m always up for trying new K-cup flavors, so I was happy to test drive the new Millstone and Folgers varieties.

Millstone coffee and Folgers Gourmet Selections K-Cup portion packs are made from the same high quality beans already available on-shelf in over 50 blends, and offer the exceptional taste that both brand’s passionate coffee drinkers have come to expect. The superior taste is the result of both brand’s precise “bean to cup” process that involves an intricate method of growing, roasting, and blending to ensure each cup of coffee delivers a unique coffee drinking experience.

I really enjoyed them, with the Folgers Black Silk K-cups being the one I liked the best. I like my coffee strong and bold, so this one was the closest to what I would typically buy. The Millstone Hazelnut K-cups were fun for a change of pace. They’re perfect for an after-dinner treat in lieu of a decadent dessert!

Millstone and Folgers Gourmet Selections K-Cup portion packs are available in the following flavors:

  • Millstone Breakfast Blend (Fair Trade Certified)
  • Millstone Hazelnut Cream
  • Folgers Gourmet Selections Black Silk
  • Folgers Gourmet Selections Lively Colombian
  • Folgers Gourmet Selections Lively Colombian Decaf
  • Folgers Gourmet Selections Vanilla Biscotti

My husband and I use team work in the mornings. While I shower, he wakes up our son and gets him up and moving for me. While I get ready, it gives him time to get woke up. We then take his medicine and head out to school. Our keurig comes in very handy because my husband enjoys strong coffee while I enjoy flavored coffee! We can each have a perfect cup of coffee in just a couple minutes.

I have a 2 year old and 8 month old that are very early risers and coffee is the only thing that makes my morning bearable. I have a basic cheapo coffee maker that does not make the best cup of coffee and leaks all over the place but it works for now. I have wanted a Keurig coffee maker for over a year and we just always had something else more important to spend the money on so this would be a blessing.
As far as tricks to get things done in the morning, I just try to do as much as possible in the evening after they go to sleep and yes I am drinking coffee then too. I am lucky to finish one cup during the day so it is frustrating to brew an entire pot and only get half a cup before getting interrupted. The Keurig single-cup brewer would solve this problem for me. I would waste a lot less coffee and it always tastes good. I look forward to having coffee at playgroup because all the moms that host it have a Keurig and I know it will be yummy.

As Kim said before, I also try to do as much as I can the previous night so everything doesn’t pile up on me in the mornings. A cup of coffee wakes me up, gets me moving, and clears the cobwebs and sleepdust. I don’t know how I would survive without coffee!

I am a homeschooling mother of 4 children – ages 10, 8, 5 and 2 (the first 3 are boys and the fourth is a girl!). I simply cannot function without a fresh brewed cup of coffee. Once I get my cup of coffee, I am ready for a hectic day of school, music lessons, art lessons, swim lessons, menu planning, bill paying, and of course, spending time with each child. There is always so much more, and I couldn’t possible get it all done without my daily coffee, time of Bible reading and prayer! If only I was as “religious” about Bible reading and prayer time as I am with my cup of coffee. That’s what really makes the day go well!

As an added side note – I buy GREEN coffee beans and roast them myself. They are so much better this way (versus purchasing them in the grocery store). It is also much cheaper to do it this way. It’s a little time consuming on the days that you need to roast (every 4 days or so), but it’s definitely worth it!

To make sure that I have a calm morning I do the following:
Make all lunches, pick out kids clothes, do preparations for breakfast, sign all school stuff and place in backpacks, make sure shoes, coats and anything they may need to leave the house is next to the door. It is much easier looking for things in the evening then when you are trying to get 2 kids and husband out the door by 7:15am.

It’s a bad day when I don’t have my morning coffee, yes…I know I have a problem. HA!

To manage our hectic mornings, we ALWAYS keep to the schedule. My son always functions better when our days follow a routine. Mommy enjoys her coffee while listening to the chitter chatter at the breakfast table.
