Win-It Wednesday: Dyson Air Multiplier 10-Inch Desk Fan

July 14, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

This is no ordinary fan — obviously. In fact, did you even realize that it IS a fan?

This is the new Dyson Air Multiplier Table Fan, and while you’ll definitely have to pay a good amount for this revolutionary technology, there are some very valid reasons why you should give it some consideration when making your next fan purchase:

  • Notice there are NO blades — The Dyson Air Multiplier technology does not require blades to generate a steady stream of air. We don’t use traditional fans around our children because of the dangerous, fast-spinning blades. When I was younger, I leaned back over one of those old fans with the metal blades. It immediately sucked my long hair up in it, pulling out a good section of it, so while I learned the hard way, we’ve chosen not to expose our children to them at all.
  • It’s super easy to clean — After a few days of use, traditional fan blades and the fan casing become caked with dust, fibers, and pollen. Getting them clean is a major ordeal, but with the Air Multiplier, you can just easily wipe it clean with a damp cloth. This is especially important for households with allergy sufferers.
  • It uses a dimmer switch — Traditional fans usually only have 3-4 speed settings, but the Dyson Air Multiplier allows you to set your own perfect amount of air flow by turning a dial.
  • You can easily tilt it with the touch-tilt feature — Box fans don’t tilt at all, and directional fans can become loose over time, making adjusting them difficult. The Dyson Air Multiplier has a touch-tilt feature that makes directing the air flow simple and easy.

I know some of you that use a fan at night to help you sleep are probably wondering if it’s silent. Well, it’s definitely quieter than a traditional fan, but it still provides a good amount of white noise that will help put you drift off to sleep.

We’ve been thoroughly happy with our Dyson Air Multiplier Fan. Besides being very futuristic-looking and a great conversation starter, it does a great job cooling off a room in a safe manner that’s very important to this mom of five.

We’d probably put this in one of the kids’ bedrooms — no blades = no danger for curious fingers! (I’m a Facebook fan, BTW!)

I love this fan! Everytime I see the commercial, it makes me want one! I would place it on my night stand to help keep cool and provide white noise to help me sleep soundly.

I would put it in my kids’ room. We have a window unit that cools the house very well, but at night my daughter sleeps better with the door closed. It usually is ok, but during the summer months it can get a little warm. I usually open it up before I go to bed, but this kid-safe fan would be perfect.

I would put this in my sons’ room. We live in an 1850s home and or bedrooms are upstairs. Our sons’ rooms stay especially warm, so we installed a window unit AC. It doesn’t bother the 1 yr old, but scares the petuti out of the 2 yr old. So, this would be perfect!!

I definitely would use this downstairs in my house. Our house was built in 1897 and we do not have central air. So this would be a blessing for us.

I’d put this in my daughter’s room. Right before she was born, I read that having a fan on in the bedroom helps reduce SIDS. I guess it’s the circulation of air and all. So we bought a fan and always have it on, even if it’s on low. The problem with having it on all the time is that it gets really dusty, really fast! The Dyson would be much easier to clean, and not to mention much safer! And it’d be a blessing for these 100+ degree weather we’ve been having here in the south lately.

I’ve been looking at these lately, but we can’t really indulge in something like this at this time. I would love to have one for the bedroom. My husband absolutely has to sleep with a fan. What an awesome giveaway! Thank you for the opportunity! :-)

I would love to have this in my home!!!! My old home needs something as practical and energy efficient as this in my living room….and my little one, wouldn’t put his fingers or objects in it…What an awesome idea!!!!!!

I would put the fan in our play room. It gets wicked hot in there, and little curious fingers pose too much of a risk for me to put an ordinary fan.

  28. Ashley

    July 15, 2010 at 10:25 am

I would put this on my nightstand. My husband uses a sleep apnea machine and our twin girls sleep in the room with us. So this would keep all of us cool!
