We have two piggy banks …cash in about 4 times a year for about $40 each time. We usually just use that to buy groceries. Not very exciting, eh?
Liz
I do not keep a coin jar. I use my change.

We had change showing up all over the house, in the laundry, etc. So, I just bought myself a jar that counts the money as you deposit it. I slapped a “Tips” sign on it, put it on my desk and explained to my kids (6 & 8) what “tips” are…. they agreed Mommy should get tips since I do the cooking, cleaning and everything else. They have been putting all the money they find in my jar every chance they get. It’s adding up quickly:-) Of course they realize the money will probably be spent on them anyway!

I keep a change jar in the laundry room. I count it when it fills up, about once a year and then it goes into my daughter’s savings account.

I have multiple jars, pennies, dimes & nickels, quarters, and rebates/recycle (money from cans & glass). I wait until the penny jar is full, the others it depends on what I’m saving for. I subscribe by email.

I have a quart-jar bank that I fill up about twice a year. Last time I cashed it in (coinstar, of course!) I had over $80!

I use cash for all purchases and never use change. I keep it in a jar and cash it in every few months when it starts to fill up. Of course, my son suckers me into quarters for the candy machines most of the time, but when we do cash it in, it’s usually over $50 and it all goes into his account.
