We keep a change jar and “try” to save it for big items or vacations.
Stephanie
I keep two ceramic banks – one for my daughter, one for my son. Whenever I find change on the ground, I put it in their bank (alternating between them). Someday, when they’re full, we’ll break them open and enjoy our good fortune. :)
Charity
We have a coin jar, but don’t count it very often.
emily
we use a huge cheese ball container. saving for a vacation!
Dee
I save coins in jars and only open them when they are full. Then I count them, roll them up, take them to the bank and deposit them. This money goes towards big ticket purchases like a laptop or a vacation – takes a while though :)

i subscribe!

We do keep a coin jar and only count it once it’s full. We put the money back for a “rainy day” or put it into savings (somewhat like the Keep the Change program that Bank of America offers).

I only put pennies in the coin jar, because they are too heavy for my purse and seem to multiply with the voracity of rabbits. All of the other coins get used up EVERY WEEK, because I pay cash for everything except what I buy online. Also, I feel like I get the item for free if I can pay for it with only change!!! It would be worth getting $40 in change from the bank to earn the extra $10 for one of those gift cards, so thanks for the heads up!

No, we don’t keep a coin jar. I did start a piggy bank for my daughter that I will probably let her use for fun money when she is older.

I keep my spare change in a plastic baggie so it doesn’t weigh my wallet down. I count the change when the bag gets full. I cash in the change at the bank for cash.
