Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

As schools let out for summer, Borders is Double Dog Daring you with their Summer Reading Challenge. Getting kids to do anything that isn’t on a bike, in a pool or in front of the TV during summer break can sometimes be a daunting task, yet continued reading is important for their minds to continue to grow and bend. Have your child under 12 years old sign up for the challenge at the Borders store nearest you. All they have to do is read any 10 books this summer and they’ll receive a FREE book!

HarperCollins and Jon Scieszka, author of Robot Zot, have provided this week’s tip for getting kids to read:
“If you want to inspire your boy reader, expand your definition of reading to include non-fiction, graphic novels, funny books, wordless books, audio books and magazines. Summer reading is a great time to explore texts that aren’t covered/allowed in school reading.”
One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a $100 Borders Gift Card!
To enter, tell me one way you get your kids to read over the summer. What tips and tricks can you share that have them turning off the TV and opening a book?
Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

Our family loves to read and has a reading room for just that. To keep it exciting, we particpate in many activities at out library throughout the year. The summer reading program is fantastic and we look forward to a few new fun activities each week to keep everyone interested and excited about reading.

My kids love to read. They are enrolled in the local library reading program and love filling up their reading form. They earn screen time by reading first.
For each minute of reading they get that much screen time.

For my teens, we keep their novels in the car and they can read as we are travelling into town for errands. It also makes the car ride go faster.

We read together. The kids get excited and then want to read on their own. I purchase a lot of new books from the goodwill bookstore. Cheap and you never know what you’ll find.
Mona
No blog, but will definitely put you on when I start one.

My family loves to read. A method I use to get my kids to read is getting them motivated to read to one each other and to me.
Jessica
We have quiet time, where we all read. I love reading, so I think that making sure that they see that is important. At least, thats what I tell myself. We also participate in the local library’s summer reading program, and they love getting those prizes.
Rachel
I don’t have kids so I don’t have any suggestions on that front, but when I was little my mom always signed us up for the library summer program. I’ve always been a competitive person and so I enjoyed trying to have my name higher on the chart than everyone else. Plus i Liked the prizes!

The library is lots of fun. The kids love being able to pick out the books that they want to read. They have more fun when they get to choose.
Margaret
The library is a great resource because of their weekly readings.
