Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

As schools let out for summer, Borders is Double Dog Daring you with their Summer Reading Challenge. Getting kids to do anything that isn’t on a bike, in a pool or in front of the TV during summer break can sometimes be a daunting task, yet continued reading is important for their minds to continue to grow and bend. Have your child under 12 years old sign up for the challenge at the Borders store nearest you. All they have to do is read any 10 books this summer and they’ll receive a FREE book!

HarperCollins and Jon Scieszka, author of Robot Zot, have provided this week’s tip for getting kids to read:
“If you want to inspire your boy reader, expand your definition of reading to include non-fiction, graphic novels, funny books, wordless books, audio books and magazines. Summer reading is a great time to explore texts that aren’t covered/allowed in school reading.”
One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a $100 Borders Gift Card!
To enter, tell me one way you get your kids to read over the summer. What tips and tricks can you share that have them turning off the TV and opening a book?
Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

Summer is reading is hard for my daughter but we do do to the library and we try to do our reading as a family sitting together with her sisters and either read what she is reading or a little of what I am.

We have a reading chart and after 5 books he gets to pick a prize. Plus we have a lot of local book stores that also offer free books for reading joining their summer reading program. With both of these incentives I have no problem getting my son to read :-)

I think reading should be a family activity. If they see you reading, it will help encourage them.

I get them all the gross books…like Captian underpants…and the day my butt went psycho….then they think it is cool to read cuz those are gross books….

Our daughter loves to read so we read together each night before bed.
Jamie
My boys love to read, they just don’t like setting aside the time and getting started. I include it as one of their daily “chores.” Each kid has to read for 30 minutes a day. Once they get started, they often read longer.
Anna
I LOVE BOOKS AND BORDERS!!!!!

To keep my daughter interested in reading, we bring her to the bookstore with us so she can pick out what she would like. When we get home we turn off the tv and have story time. Using voice changes and repetition in words she evens trys to read them herself at only 23 months old! She doesn’t play with dolls, only books!
Rachel Benoit
We have a special “reading zone” with a small bookshelf on the porch, where I keep a couple of things I’m reading, and we can each look at our own books. Because we can see outside and welcome interruptions, the kids don’t feel “cooped up” in their rooms.

My mom always signed me up at the library where I would get points for every book I read. I then was able to get free gift certificates for DQ with the points!

I read them books every night before bed time. My both kids are too small to read on their own. They just love looking at the pics. Being a dad, i love having one on one time with them.

I turn off the tv, set the timer and hand them a book. I have 3 kids and they all love to read, the youngest is only 1 but he loves listening! It also helps to lead by example, my husband and I love to read.
Allison
We go to the library and pick out books that he finds interesting.
